To Lurk, or not to Lurk.

24 members present on the board, but only 12 that display their names, so who are those other 12 lurkers?
Is there some secret society hereabouts where some members 'lurk', keeping a beady eye on the rest of us mortals.
Are you a lurker, and if so why? Do you work for the secret services, do you do funny hand and finger manouveres to recognise each other.
Right this very minute, I can feel 24 eyes burning into my head, watching what I type, whether I pick my nose or not.
I'm putting the lid back on my ice cream carton, just incase an invisible hand decides to steal it.

There's a forum about men and what they should and should not wear or be seen dead in. Quite some time back my photo appeared there, I was sent a text of it by someone else who was highly amused. My attire was praised but the messages that started with: "At his age...." Since then I admit I like to lurk there, some of the comments, written in all seriousness are unintentionally hilarious.

I suppose I'm one of those invisible members, Tim... but you know I'm not a "lurker." We get to decide if everyone can see whether or not we're logged in... and I choose to not announce that. I think a lot of members do.

I find it annoying that some people choose to not tell us where they are. Often they ask questions where the answer depends on their location. We don't need their street address, just a city, state or country.

Same here. The options are grayed out, can't be used.

I could care less who lurks, wants to stay anonymous, yadda yadda, on a forum.

I do care about someone lurking on my property as that means they either climbed a gate or came through a fence. - in which case I will shoot, wait ten minutes then call my neighbor the sheriff.

I tip my hat to anyone whose real life is so content that lurkers on a forum is all there is to fuss about.
