Can you do a safe sit up, asked my doctor recently.

i do crunches for abs on a large balance ball.
Strong abs keep back safe/happy and my core strong.
I still do 75 (C) 75 (R)obliques 75 (L)obliques total of : 225; hands barely touching behind my neck/head, elbows up; looking up a bit to keep my neck from hurting.
Do them twice a week, minimum; or once every third day.
 
It gave me a chuckle actually, had to do with another topic
of discussion at that moment. Anyway, I replied that I can do
10 sit ups, and what I believe to be the correct way.

I enjoy exercise but sit ups aren't my thing~

Traditional situps IMO are hard on all the body parts involved, particularly for a senior. There are many different ways to tone the abdominals, Google "ab crunches" for examples.
 
What's a sit-up? I forgot. Really.

A safe sit up would have you lying on your back with your knees bent, then
lifting your torso all the way up. I think sit ups are safer when done properly
and my doctor does not want back injuries. So she encourages her patients
to use proper form when doing the sit up. It was odd that this topic even
came up at the appointment lol. but she had things on her mind I guess.
 
I don't do situps but do Glute Bridges on the floor while lifting weights. This helps to strengthen and develop my core. With a strong core, I think you can do just about anything. Thanks for this thread. Now I feel more motivated to do situps. :)
