How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

Good morning, all. Thursday January 16th. Over two weeks into 2025 and indoor Christmas decorations are still looking back at me. They'll be put away soon, but not today. Pressing business chores jumped the line on my to-do list.

@Trila, I hope you're feeling better soon.

@Murrmurr: same for you, Frank. It's easy to slide into a funk and hard to climb back out. When there, I deliberately shift my focus to little things that often melt into life's background: Fun, happy music that starts me dancing, a stroll through the neighborhood and appreciating people's beautiful landscapes. That kind of thing.

"Gratitude lists" have never pulled me out of a funk, but some find them helpful. Sending hugs your way.

@hollydolly How are we gonna know if you've had the surgery and are on the mend? How long will they keep you? That is, when will you be home? Dear me:(

And can you confirm with Uber that they will be there to fetch you on time?
Oh its ok Gigi..I hope...

...because I'm going to be discharged after a day or 2.. they just don't have the beds to keep people in unless they're critically ill. Even heart attack patients, and cancer patients are getting sent home after a very short time

In reality, I'm pleased I won't spend more than a couple of days as an inpatient, a doctor aquaintence said that everyone must do their best to get out of hospital as soon as they can after a procedure, because hospitals are a dangerous place.. you're far more likely to get an infection..sepsis etc, the longer you stay in hospital..

I'm more concerned about recovering at home without anyone else here.. i don't know how that's going to pan out...

As for Uber, I can't check that they will definitely turn up on time..I can only hope they do, it's always a concern if I book a very early morning cab, for example if I'm going to the airport .... that they might be late or not turn up... just got to keep fingers crossed.

On the website I was able to tick a box that said I would accept another car other than the one I booked, as a replacement driver if the initial driver is held up, and likely to be late.

Grocery store yesterday; managed to keep it just under $50. Highlights are a box of Coco Puffs and a tub of salted caramel ice cream. Also a container of burrata.

Today re-organized another kitchen cabinet and tossed a few old dishes, also 2 ashtrays from 10 years ago.

Dr. appointment today' damned rash is back.

Good day, All.

Does it have to do with limited bed availability.

In my world - SO had a quadruple bypass and was home on day three, final fusion of three and "spare parts" and home on day three. We prepped the house. Hand grips screwed into wall studes every where, chair high bidet, bed in guest room lower than ours, recliner positioned correctly to sleep through years of NY PD with, grabbers, no floor rugs, walker, clothes!!!, antiseptic wash/shampoo, medication chart taped to bathroom mirror, gauze and assorted, inexpensive wash clothes for use and trash, no clothes for about a week so lots of sheets/soft blankets to change 2-3 times daily, easy to eat food, books. Someone to be there when I had to run an errand.

Opiod pain meds were not prescribed prior to discharge which makes sense but was a hassle. We learned to ask for one administered on site at discharge. Zero communication with family to avoid drama. For myslf I sorted out a box of ratties. Unders/soft shirts, socks on the verge of being rehomed. Wore them and trashed them - no laundry.

Will you be able to function in a multi store house? Will insurance cover at least part time home health or can you hire? Any friends/family besides your daughter who can take some turns?
Not knowing what you have done leaves it a bit of guess work and general.
Wishing you the very best of luck!!!

it's a good thing you're not superstitious, it's supposed to be bad luck to keep Christmas decs up past 12th night..

Me , I didn't have any up this year but usually I take them down on new Years day

I've been searching for the bonjela for my mouth ulcers.. can't find it anywhere... I know I have some somewhere.. you'd think it woul be in the vanity with the toothpaste and brushes but nope...:(
Holly---be sure to buy a new toothbrush asap and throw out the other one.

thank you very much, you're very kind... and in answer to a couple of questions..No , insurance will not cover anything because I have no medical Insurance since my soon2Bex cancelled our joint policy and I can't afford Insurance on my own now..
2... No, no family living close. DD is closest 2 hours drive... she works full time.. so no-one other than her..family all in the North of the country..and anyway like you I can do without any drama

Without going into personal details, I'm having abdominal surgery which will according to the Assesment nurse render me incapable of driving for a minimum of 2 weeks.. and more likely 4 to 5 weeks... no bending , no lifting anything over 2 pounds in weight , etc, etc.... I will be able to walk without aids altho' sore..

I am trying my best to make the house easier for me to negotiate during recovery... I already have aids in place.. bath grab ( screwed in )... second hand rail on the stairs etc....and I'm glad you mentioned disposing of the clothing once worn, because I was thinking the same, rather than trying to do heavy laundry

My most pressing concern is having to climb stairs as the only bathrooms are upstairs.

Don't worry Hawkie surely someone will reply soon.. (y)

Well as I posted on the snack thread.. I should be ashamed of calling myself a chocolate lover. I just found 2 bars of dark chocolate in my fridge drawer... which should have been eaten more than 4 years ago...

Sounds like some improvements!

Good thing I checked my texts before sleep last night. I had an ultra sound appointment today with the vascular and vein people. That appointment was made a year ago and forgotten. I have PAD (peripheral artery disease) in my legs. Some ailments have a name. others are just old age. We will go over the results next week.

RV toilet for the first couple of days? Scoot up and down the stairs on your but. Hang onto the rail!
Does your surgeon know about your ulcers?

I am in shock. I've just read an email from the AA..(automobile Association )..for the renewal of my annual breakdown cover... they've upped the price by almost double from last year..even tho' I've ever called them out...

I'll be ringing them tomorrow to cancel...

I already have breakdown cover with my Insurance company who are the AA's main breakdown rival in the UK , albeit not the gold service of the AA.. it's still a cover.. and costs a fraction of this latest renewal price from the AA

I won't be able to do that because that will mean using stomach muscles which will be too sore...but thanks for the suggestion...(y)

Does my surgeon know about my mouth ulcers?..no..they're all gone now.. it was just a few days
