I know many of you are shivering right now in freezing temperatures. Living in sunny California, however, I do know what snow is all about. Just look at my pictures. During WWII my mother took us children away from Berlin to a peaceful place near the Swiss/Austrian border, called Scheidegg. My only memory of WWII is when Moroccans on donkeys, serving in the French army, came and bargained with farmers for some chickens.

Old friends from Scheidegg just sent me these pictures. Yes, I am familiar with living in freezing temperatures.

We stayed in this hotel during our last visit in 2019 (in summer without the snow.) In front is an ice-covered fish pond.

And during our visit in 2019, we didn't see a horse but plenty of cows with bells around their neck that sounded so peaceful.

That does look chilly @packleader but, pretty too.

No snow here and, so far this morning, it's not cold either.

The breadmaker is busy baking some crusty bread which we will have with homemade tomato soup later but, in the meantime, we are off for a walk and a quick visit to the supermarket. Somewhere along the way, we will likely stop for a cup of coffee or, if the fancy takes us, we might pop into the pub instead and join the retired rebels who are, actually not that rebellious at all but, having got tired of the seniors' groups, are playing truant in the local senior friendly boozer which, to be honest, is much more fun ;)

Later, some chores will get done but mostly this afternoon will be chilled. I like having lazy Mondays, it makes me appreciate not having to be at work :)

Have a good start to the week everyone (y)

Cold! SO has a physical therapy appointment this morning. He is gearing up for the playdate in February. Tile guys will grout today. I got started cleaning ing the two rooms adjoining the jack and jill. It will take some serious work including furniture moving but it will be worth it. Stove top is a mess. Grrr! The holly hocks SO stuck into pots when the cold hit are doing fine. Ribs are a bother! Note to myself - feet are for walking not for falling over.
Time to get prettied up and face the world. Izzi did the right thing. She went back to bed:)

I did get to go skating last Saturday. It was the first time I had been able to leave the property for 10 days, because of all the snow. I wasn't sure if I should go, but I'm glad I did....I snowed again on Sunday and I'm stuck here again! This time, I think we'll be able to get out sooner. Maybe even tomorrow, if we leave early and get back before things start to thaw. That's the real problem, our driveway turns to mush during the thaw cycle.

Yesterday I took all of the decorations off of my Christmas tree, today I will take the tree down. Other than that.....I plan on spending the day being lazy!

I forgot....what day is your surgery? It's on your hand, right?

Cold, but bright this morning. I took a load of bottles to the recycling point in the village, ordered a top up of heating oil and then chopped some more firewood. I must chase the plumber for the estimate for the new boiler. I'm managing to keep the current boiler working, but I can't guarantee how long it will last.
I hope you can get a good price!

Slides make so much of a difference in an RV but Class Bs don't have them since they're cargo van based. With the 5th wheel, do y'all set up camp for several days? As for your question about where I stay for work, in cooler weather, I stay in the parking lot at work for a couple of nights but then usually stay at a campground to dump my very small gray tank and fill up my also very small fresh water tank. If I need AC all night, I stay at campgrounds only That may change, though, since I have a new inverter generator that's super quiet.

And definitely prefer the van over any hotel!
Generally yes, though there are times when our destination is further than a one day drive, so we either boondock or do a quick overnight at an RV park. Driving that 5th wheel is taxing, so we plan no more than 6 hours a day behind the wheel.

If just doing a quick overnight, we hook up water & power, don't bother with sewer, open the slides, relax for a few hours, sleep, and hit the road after making breakfast.

We visit some towns annually (or more often) and typically stay a full week.

Well apparently according to my daughter, it's going to rain for a week as from Wednesday..... so I'm pleased I got all that shopping done today...goodness me it was a lot as well.... tomorrow I have to go out again, different direction, and get these gel nails that I had done at Christmas taken off before the surgery.. ..

Then wednesday I will have to take a bunch of donations to the Charity shop. I can't have them sitting around here for weeks until I can drive again..

I got the laundry done today, and had to dry it in the house because I don't have a dryer any more.... and I stripped and changed the bed...

By the time I get to the hospital I'll be glad of the rest :D
