I have his old shows on DVD. I liked Doc Martin until I found out he almost ran over Hollydolly.
I didn't know that. Sorry, Holly. The seaside village is charming and the acting good. I get reruns,

In New York City, I would ride a bicycle to and from work. One morning, I came close to running over Gabe Pressman of Channel 5 News. He jumped back on the curb, just in time.I have his old shows on DVD. I liked Doc Martin until I found out he almost ran over Hollydolly.

Funny you should mention this..because just in todays paper Martin Clunes ex- wife is telling all.. said he was a pig to her....no physical abuse but he treated her badly...

I have 6 seasons on dvd plus the 10th season that was disappointing.
They show too much behind the scenes stuff that destroys the illusion and makes it not as interesting anymore.
Martin Clunes is far too self important out of character and ruins his likeability. Episodes outside of the seaside village arent as good.
I never did watch the Christmas special episode included on the dvd.

Yes, I felt that way too. I don't see the episodes the same way anymore.

I would rather not know the private personalities of actors, musicians and artists. Once aware of their flaws it is hard not to judge them accordingly.

Absolutely! PBS does far too much of that. Sometimes it seems like they show more "behind the scenes" episodes than actual story episodes.
They took all the mystery out of "Call the Midwives," and showed us the nuns with their hair down and make-up on and told us which babies were dolls. They keep showing specials about the animals in "All Creatures Great and Small" or the cast filming in the Yorkshire Dales or they tell us how they get the cows to look like they're giving birth.
How are we supposed to suspend disbelief? I watch none of those things, as far as I'm concerned all the people in All Creatures live happily together in that wonderful house and the dogs get along with the rat!

I enjoyed it too, although some of the gags and characters got a little long in the tooth (e.g. Mrs Tishell, the pharmacist). My favorite attraction? Caroline Catz, who played Louisa, the school teacher, who also ended up as Doc's wife. She was always perfect, and I think a natural for comedy.

Probably because of his "Marty McFly" role, I often read "Doc Martin" here and think of Fox's cute comedy of its day:

I've heard of Doc Martin, I know there was a...TV show. Also, isn't "Doc Martin" a brand of shoes?
