Who is Dio?🤠

We are likely in the same weather pattern. Today my area hit 74(F), by next week we will be back on the 40’s.

I paid my RE taxes today. I’m on the green belt but I found out, as a widow, I may still qualify for an additional small tax reduction. Boyyyyyy you should see the list of papers I have to provide — it takes up an entire 8 x 10 sheet of paper🤯

Congratulations to your mom!❤️❤️. My license is also due, but this time I can’t renew on line; our licenses are good for eight years so they probably want a new foto. I went to the DL center this morning and the line was out the door, so I left. I need to get there earlier than 11:30.

Sonic was lunch and supper.
what's Sonic ?

It is also a pull up into the shade under an awning with 30-40 other cars, cut off your engine, roll down the window, and talk on a box, order your food and they bring it out to you...some Sonics still have workers who wear roller skates and deliver your food to your car on a tray, hang the tray on your car window edge, you eat while parked, talk to them through the box again, they come back and get your tray...and we usually tip them pretty well if they are good at their job. OR as @Pink Biz said: you can drive through, though I've never seen drive through at a Sonic, always pull up type west of Mississippi.

8x10 is not that bad.

8x10 is not that bad.

it is when the print is small and it fills the page 😂

@hollydolly yes, Sonic is a fast food chain that has BTA burgers and the best-ever milkshakes. Our Sonics are pull in, order from the menu screen, and they bring your food. One can either sit and eat or leave. Husband & I would generally sit and eat, but I take it home these days.

I showed my newlywed second wife several parcels of land for building a house. The only time she became emotional was a lot with a small running creek, "Oh, if we had a pond with some duckies." Some 50 years ago, I paid $2K for the 2 1/2 acre land that is worth now almost $1/2M. For $60 I divided it into four parcels, doing all the paperwork by myself. Nowadays this would cost $60K because only professionals are longer permitted of doing this work, and prices have gone up. No wonder that house prices in the Los Angeles area are now $1M.

In those days, I could still divide the land into 1/2 acre plots while nowadays the minimum size has been increased to one acre. We are grandfathered in, even when I had a lot-line adjustment recently. Because of taxation changes, I gave three of the four parcels to my children. But they don't maintain the parcels as well as I did.

We had a contractor building the house according to our ideas, mostly measured according to our apartment. At that time, the house costs $55K that is worth now well over $1/2M. We only made a mistake by designing the kitchen to be too small.

I liked a Mexican rancho style house with a large inner courtyard surrounded by the rooms. Due to cost limitations, we had to narrow this idea down to a 9x10 feet open atrium. For outer wall insulation, we paid extra for urea formaldehyde and double pane windows. I also doubled the insulation in the attic. I took a welding class and made wrought iron window screens for security in our isolated location.

On my own, I built four carports and sheds that doubled the size of the house. We also did much landscaping work that included planting over 200 trees and a flower/vegetable garden for my wife. Our children grew up in this house and want to inherit it, even though we bought them their own houses.

And yes, I built a pond with the water from the creek and obtained a half dozen Mallards to make my wife happy.

Left: Can anyone identify this bird on our roof? Right: I don't use longer this 1992 Ford Ranger that needs a repair. I will inquire at the DMV whether I can donate it to a homeless person on our street without re-registering the P/U and having a smog check done for the title transfer. The homeless person could use the car then as a shelter. I have known Jeff for some time; he is a very decent guy who just needs some help.

Left: I am still driving and keeping this 1986 Ford F-150 with the move-on camper, that has a pop-up roof, in case a wildfire or earthquake damages our house. We could use it as an emergency shelter. When our children were still kids, we explored with it not only the US but also Canada and Mexico. We even drove up to Pikes Peak in Colorado at just over 14,000 feet.
Right: After some 45 years, this water PVC pipe just developed a minor leak. Very odd. Since I had laid all pipes myself, I also knew how to fix it.

Because of bird flu, millions of chickens have been culled and egg prices soar. But my wife's chickens give us all the eggs we need, so we don't have to buy any.

Dio is (was) my husband's online name, years ago, and I still refer to him with that name. It's short for Diogenes.

At one time, he used to silly goat for his avatar. Someone here though they knew him from that time and asked me if Dio was "goat guy". I laughed so hard (so did he)!!!!

Now....he is Dio, Goat Guy, or just 🐐!!!

I think the bird is a White Herron.

I love how you and your wife build happy memories together!

We call it the Egret, here.... or snowy Egret

Today is my first appointment for treatment for throat cancer after the endoscopy. I don't know if it's gonna be Chemo or radiation, but I have several different oncology appointments every day this week. Even a barium swallows. I just know a have a meeting with a team of doctors. If anyone has been this, please let me know what to expect.
Flag this to @JBR

Here it is morning again and a warm one at that. Today's high will be 75 or more, probably a record. The weathernerds are spreading their black cloud of gloom, telling us that we should expect a cold spell for the second half of the month. Fine. It's warm and sunny for the next week, and I'll take it.

I don't think the grass sprouted during the night.

@Trila Ask 🐐man if he's found an honest man yet;)

Today's plan is one of pure, unadulterated excitement! There are some clean-up things I want to get done in the garden, and we're also going to the post office and to the supermarket to get milk. Then (be still my beating heart!) a trip to Aldi and the Aisle of Shame. I'm trying to stay calm.

It's another grim day....I hope we're going to get sunny days in Spring to make-up for this....

drizzling, and windy....

I made another Ebay sale last night, so I was going to go and post it today.. but the buyer said no rush, so I'll wait until tomorrow...

My BB provider who is installing brand new Superfast BB into my home.... has now changed my installation date for the THIRD time.. I had another email this morning telling me it will be yet a later date... I'm gonna ring them in a little while and get them to shake a leg, or they can stick it where the sun doesn't shine..

It's a good thing I already have fast BB..because if I was a new user , I would certainly be high tailing it off to another provider...

The hot dogs are good too. On occasion I get a craving.

As a college employee, I had five month of vacation a year that enabled me of doing all that work. It also made it possible to take my younger wife and children on long vacation trips to Europe, and elsewhere in the world.

BTW, my wife with an M.A. degree and over 30 years experience as a primary school teacher in California earns over $100K, and so does my younger daughter as an R.N. at a hospital's cardiology department. My older daughter is an English teacher in China and lives near Hong Kong in a three bedroom apartment on the 22nd floor of a high-rise on her own and can afford flying home 2 or 3 times a year. I am proud of my successful and loving wife and children with all of whom I am in daily contact.
You built a beautiful life! I see others have already answered, but I was going to say, a Herron.

So happy you're turning the corner, @Pepper! 🤗
What's BB, @hollydolly?

Tuesday Feb 4th. Not many plans on my schedule today. That's ok - there's plenty to do around here.

The weather has turned cool, relatively speaking. It's dropped from highs in the 70s to only 62° today along with showers tonight through Friday morning. Hoping there will be no deluges that wreak havoc in the burn areas.

Hope all have an enjoyable day!

I just asked. He said: Nope!!!

It was so windy outside it actually pushed me backwards a few times! A woman my age was clutching a utility pole, asking for someone to help her cross the street due to the wind! Nice young man helped her.

Too bad, as it is very sunny and warm! 45F :ROFLMAO: No really, that's warm around here lately!

I'm home early. Dio's eye appointment was so good that he doesn't need to go back for 4 months....even his doctor said that she was amazed at how well he is doing!!!!

I ran all of my errands, food is put away, and now it's time for dinner. I will probably spend most of the rest of my day preparing and freezing future meals, from the stuff that I bought today.

We bought an extra pizza....already divided into meal portions and in the freezer.

Next, I'm going to prepare "Stuffed Turkey Loaf", and freeze the raw loaves to have some other day...just pop it into the oven! I will probably get 2 loaves from one recipe.

I'm not sure what's next on my list, but I have more meals to prepare and freeze. I'm ready for the next snow and/or freezing temps!

Oh. I forgot about the mountain of dirty dishes. I guess I need to take care of those too.

With hubby not working in the wood pile, every day seems like Saturday or Sunday.

His sister stopped by to square up the bill from working on her well & its problems.

He said not to worry bill is paid.

Sister in law's husband died about 5 years ago.

Then both of her sons devolved health problems.
One can get around in a wheel chair,, but can't talk.
The older one tries to manage his life,, seems to relies more on his mother for some things.

Her youngest son has a job with postal service,,not sure what his work hours are.

So sad SIL sons have health issues. 😟

Slept TEN hours last night! Woke at 8am. Felt like a new woman and danced my way to the coffee pot...💃
Played with stocks most of day again. New shower curtain arrived; as pretty as I was hoping. Made large pan of macaroni and cheese with toasted croutons and crispy bacon on top. DH in heaven as he loves this dish. I don't make it often enough for him or me to get fat on it.IMG_4496.jpeg68792286172__DB257003-A3FE-415C-8B45-8B912C40D872.fullsizerender.jpeg
