If you got a tattoo, what would it be?

I don't have any tattoos and I suppose being on a "senior" forum, most of us grew up in a time when this sentiment was common. Back in the 50's and 60s I think tattoos were mostly associated with drunken sailors, gang members and thugs. I believe times have changed, they seem now to be a fashion statement. Toward the end of my career I worked with a few folks that had tattoos, they were not stupid people, in fact several were highly intelligent. I think the tide has changed in what a tattoo says about a person, in most cases. Face tattoos excluded, I still consider face tattoos to be "Job Stoppers."
Highly intelligent people are capable of making bad personal decisions too:) The trend for covering the entire body is just 1 bad decision after another.

Despite the fact that I dsilike tattoos ...my own daughter has them

She's an intelligent woman, classy, well dressed, but she has tattoos...
I don't like the fact she has them but she's a grown woman she can make her own choices..

Fortunately she doesn't have them on her hands, face or neck.. but she does have them on her feet..which I think spoils the look of very pretty shoes... she has on her wrist, and on her back...

They're not, again fortunately for me as her mother..... big coloured tattoos, instead they're string tatoos..with her pet dog names... and small hearts

this kind of style...

I don't disagree. I was responding to a post that stated "tattoos are stupid." Since tattoos are inanimate, I assumed the intent was to say that people that get them are stupid. Hence my response. Of course, my interpretation could have been incorrect.

No personally I have seen some awesome tattoos. Some of the artists are masters of their craft. I've seen one gentleman who paid probably a good $10 to $20,000 for a lion's head to be put on his back.

But as for me, no. I just I find them attractive, but just not something I would want to do.

I am old enough to remember when pierced ears were thought to be the mark of a loose woman. Times have changed. My neighbor lady has a purple crew cut and I think it's cute.

I would get a small butterfly on my inner wrist. Where it could be seen and I could see it - but it wouldn't be obtrusive

I do not have any tattoos and have no intention of getting any - but i n the hypothetical situation posed ,that would be my choice.

Mu husband has a large one on each upper arm, I don't mind them, IMO looks better than too many all over the body and he has no regrets about them.

My DIL and my niece both have a couple of small ones each - they are not stupid people - in fact both have Uni degrees and responsible jobs.

I get that some people dislike tattoos and that's fine, we can all have our own preferences; although not a great fan of them I don't hate them either.
But making prejudiced judgements about things other people choose to do that we personally do not like - that is stupid and small minded.

Not back in the day when I was a youngster...ankle bracelets on women meant they were no better than they ought to be.. a particular sign worn by ladies of the night
Some of my favorite people and don't forget the kindness of bikers. ;);)😉 (I know two sides to every coin or maybe three if you count the edge.)

Isn't that statement a judgement in and of itself? Why can't someone express a preference without it being interpreted as "prejudiced", "stupid" and "small minded"?

Because you're not like me, outside my tribe, let's start a war!

Just kidding puff-in-stuff... have a drink of your liking on me! 🍷🍺🥃 or have a puff of cannabis, fairy dust or perhaps the always enlighenting moon dust.

of course they can and I clearly said in my post that it is fine for people to have their own preferences

what is stupid and small minded and prejudiced is judging other people on preferences they have that are different to our own.
