People mention Walmart and rarely Target. If you have both near you, why does there seem to be a preference for WM. I used to like shopping in the US Target.
 
While spending the past couple of days sorting and shredding old papers, I found a letter sent from my mother to her friends. It was exactly 25 years ago today. It was in lieu of her annual Christmas letter. She’d been very ill, even too ill to let me know. She was 82 at the time and her handwriting was still immaculate.

The only reason I found it was that it was that the back was used for her to summarize financial info.

She lived another 13 years.

Sometimes it's the little things that leave a big impression....I'm glad to hear that your shower was a big success!!! 🙃
 
Following on from the leak in the bathroom, I went to the Plumbers' merchant and bought a new seal for the toilet flush pipe.
I was 'shocked' by the price - a whole 59 pence - that's 73 cents US 😀. I would have seemed daft to pay that by credit card, but fortunately I had some loose change in my pocket. Happily, I could easily fix it myself otherwise it would probably have cost a fortune to employ a plumber.

my ex B-i-l is a plumber he charges £150 per hour
 
@OneEyedDiva You spent how much???? Hmpf. That kind of financial recklessness needs to be confessed on the What Have You Bought Recently? thread. At that rate, there will be nothing left for your son when you're gone! ;)

It's warm right now and doesn't look like the weather will be at all remarkable today. I'll be out watering my new baby grass.

Tonight is Dessert for Dinner night. I'm making baked apples and gonna put those little red cinnamon hearts in where the apples are cored.

Forty days until spring. Count 'em 👉40👈 count 'em. And four weeks from tomorrow we set the clocks ahead.
 
Weird dreams last night about being at the job I retired from 14 years ago. The place was different, work at hand different, but I interacted with the same people. I was even on a business trip for part of it. I was also living in a different house. Nothing odd going on at all, fairly routine work.

Very unusual. I haven't had a dream about that job since retiring from there.

talking of dreams.. I also had a weird dream last night.. I dreamt a newborn foal had been born and 6 labrador pups, and I was given one of each...

I ws panicking inside , altho' I didn't say anything, because I just didn't want the responsbility...
 
We have a funeral to go to today, a good friend of the Spousal Equivalent.

He was a 70-year-old guy, in fantastic health, in excellent shape, just retired and champing at the bit to do all the stuff he had always wanted to do.

He died in his sleep.

We have to grab every day and get the most out of it that we can, because we're not guaranteed to have another.

I am a big fan of a show that interestingly enough many from England are not familiar with ' Two Fat Ladies ' and Walmart I go to is like 5 minutes from 2 hotels , though I am not by the beach as you know they have cruise packages in England where you stay couple days or so in a hotel in Miami and then you catch a cruise .

Either way I have met lots of tourist from your side of the pond roughly my age in their 70's( Pensioner ) and surprised how many not familiar with the show , I hear their accent and start chatting with them .

I doubt that there is many people who have never heard of the 2 fat ladies.. they were a sensation here in the UK ..so I don't know why people are telling you they don't know it..

Sadly both are now long gone...

Unique women but yes people have told me .

Keeping Up Appearance's is another I like , it is on here all the time .
 
Weather will get unpleasant but SO is out on a play date. He will be worn out, happy and hungry when he comes home.

Izzi is being difficult. We have been playing "what color cat food suits your highness" since 3:00.

Laundry, a batch of pretzel knots per special request and friends will stop by for a glass of wine.

How do you break a nail when you have short ones?

Fire p!ace is roaring. Coffee is black and hot. Still cannot take a deep breath but life is good!
 
Son called. He & grandson want to go bowling, then have lunch. I told him I want them to leave early because threat of snow. He's wanting to grocery shop for me, but I'm not having it. I worry. My mind flies to worst case scenarios.

I will have a wonderful day, and since this is unexpected visit, I'm so thrilled to see them!
