I sure can sympathize with that this month. Below was the change in my electrical usage when the water recovery people were running fans and dehumidifier after my neighbor's water pipe broke and flooded my closet and a section of my bedroom:

Check your bill for the individual charges....paying attention to the "electricity" charge, only. According to your billing, you are paying almost 30 cents per KWH. If the Electricity charges are more than 15 cents/kwh. your local rates are quite high. Our billing shows our usage charges are 8.3cents/kwh. There are a couple of additions for "availability" and taxes, but nothing like you have.

Our house is about 2400 Sq. Ft. over a full basement/garage, and we are total electric. We keep the house at about 73 degrees, and the basement about 60...in the Winter. During the coldest winter months, and the hottest Summer months, we can expect electric charges between 3 to 4 hundred a month...Jan/Feb, and July/August being the highest. Our Jan. bill, this year, showed almost 4000 KWH usage.
