Just watched a free movie (with commercials) "The Keeper" Based on a True Story.
A special group of military veteran hikers help a fellow vet battle depression, PTSD, and suicidal tendencies as he hikes the Appalachian Trail.
It's on FAWESOME and tubi and ZUMO PLAY. Or just go to Search, type in The Keeper, and it will take you there.

This looks great. Prime has it as well.

Two friends and myself hiked the Appalachian Trail in 1977. We started in Georgia during the second week of March and finished the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We met a lot of different people, which some were very scary. A couple men had dogs with them and said they used the dogs for hunting. The worse part was during storms during the summer. We put up tarps to protect us and to help keep our gear dry. As we entered the Middle Atlantic states during summer, it became very hot and humid. I would say one of the best parts was seeing all the animals.

I will admit there were a few times when we were considering to quit the hike. All three of us were former military men, so we did have some survival instincts and abilities. We did have to leave the trail a few times to reload supplies. I do recommend to people who are considering to hike the trail that they make sure they are in good condition. Some areas are very challenging and people will need to be in good shape and condition. I have some pictures that my son has and is supposed to be getting the pictures put on DVD’s. When I get them back, I will share them here.

There's a movie from 1989 I hardly ever hear anyone talk about.

It's called In Country, set in a very small rural town where everyone knows everyone. The plot is about a girl who finds a box of letters from her father, to her mother, that he sent her from Viet Nam.

He dies there, and she never knew him, except for what she's been told by family.

She's curious to find out more and starts asking questions, and it uncovers long ago, buried feelings.

The main, most compelling part of the story is about the Viet Nam vets in the town, and how they're all still dealing with their respective experiences.

The ultimate climax to the movie is the closure a few people get at the end. It makes me tear up just thinking about it.

It stars Bruce Willis, and I swear, I don't know how he didn't win an Oscar for his role.

Underrated movie which interestingly enough not many watched .

The 1943 movie "Guadalcanal Diary" In particular the prayer by Corporal Potts played by William Bendix

"I’m no hero, I’m just a guy. I come out here because somebody had to come. I don’t want no medals, I just wanna get this thing over with and go back home. I’m just like everybody else, and I’m tellin’ you I don’t like it. Except maybe I guess there’s nothin’ I can do about it. I can’t tell them bums to head somewhere else. Like I said before, it’s up to somebody bigger than me, bigger than anybody. What I mean is I … I guess it’s up to God. But I’m not kiddin’ when I say I sure hope he knows how I feel.

I’m not gonna say I’m sorry for everything I’ve done. Maybe I am and maybe I’m not. When you’re scared like this, the first thing you do is start tryin’ to square things. If I get out of this alive, I’ll probably go out and do the same things all over again, so what’s the use of kiddin’ myself? The only thing I know is I … I didn’t ask to get into this spot. If we get it – and it sure looks that way now – well then I only hope he figures we done the best we could and lets it go at that. Maybe this is a funny kind of prayin’ to you guys, but … it’s what I’m thinkin’ and prayin’."

That is excellent.

My choices for movies are Patton, Full Metal Jacket, Saving Private Ryan and Gettysburg. I don't suppose Patton is really an inspiring movie, but I like it anyway.

I was inspired by that one about black soldiers fighting for the North during the Civil War. Anyone remember the name?
Glory? That's a great film. Not to mention, I've never seen a Morgan Freeman film I didn't like.

Oops, I forgot the films I was going to mention. The first one is called The Train, and the other one is called The Bridge at Remagan. Both Free at Tubi.
