What will you never economize on ??

We never lived above our means. No matter how crazy some purchases may seem to others the rules were very simple - no loans. Toys have to be paid for. I do not see much we could cut back on. SO goes by buy once cry once.

I just took in a havanese wiener dog mix because her mom died. Her mom rescued her a year ago. She needs a 2k dental that her mom couldn’t afford to do. I have an appointment for her. Yesterday she was groomed and we aren’t sure how old she is. One of my dogs is dying so little max will still have a buddy. I had her groomed yesterday.

You have a big heart:>)
I chatted with a gentleman yesterday as he seemed confused in the cat food aisle. He adopted a 4 year old cat out of three when the original owner passed away recently.

I buy my favourite brand of coffee in 300 gm packages. Absolutely will not buy the extra large cans to save money. Coffee is best when the package is just opened. Five days later when I’m at the end of the package, it doesn’t have as much flavour. I’m not interested in grinding my own beans.

I guess I economize on just about everything, but there are a lot of things I just won’t buy, like:
  • Store brand coffee
  • Cheapest car parts that are part of the engine, steering, suspension, or other critical areas
  • Just about anything with more than 10% giving a 1-star rating (there will always be at least 2%)

I can identify with all of those! I always take my old car to the dealership because I need it to last. To me, it's worth the extra cost. Plus, I've had terrible luck with cheaper places in the past, including an alleged repair that ended up in total brake failure on an interstate. So car parts, especially critical ones, like you mentioned, are a no-compromise kind of thing for me. And coffee, too, of course!

Great point about car parts. I'm no mechanic, but I have some basic skills and I pay attention to those who are in the business. I keep hearing over and over again to avoid buying after-market parts. Spend the money and go with OEM parts and sometimes even then it can be dicey, but the odds of getting defective after-market parts is extremely high. This is from the guys who deal with this stuff every day.
