Share what you get out of belonging to Senior Forums

I normally don't stay on for long periods at a time. I log in and out several times most days when taking a break. On days when there isn't much to do, I'm on more.

It's good to read how others feel about subjects that concern all of us, and uplifting to see some funny jokes or cartoons; hear some good songs.

Sometimes I get drawn in when I see a thread that's controversial, and impulsively feel like posting something I probably shouldn't. I'm trying to learn not to do that. Sorry if anything I've written offended anyone. I don't want to do that.

Like others have said, hearing different perspectives on various topics is a learning experience and one that certainly interests me.

It’s nice seeing how others care about their fellow seniors . When others are sick or down we all gather around to help cheer them up or offer suggestions that might be helpful.

I like sitting down with my morning coffee and interacting with others. It’s a nice morning ritual to start my day and lastly, I like the friends I’ve met over the last 6 years that I keep in touch with. At times its nice to chat with others on a one to one bases.

Friendship.

As a teen we have a circle of friends, there’s friends all around us. In our 20s that circle diminishes to an octagon of 8 friends. In our 30s that octagon diminishes to a hexagon of 6 friends. In our 40s that hexagon diminishes to a pentagon of 5 friends. In our 50s that pentagon diminishes to a square of 4 friends. In our 60s that square diminishes to a triangle of 3 friends. In our 70s that triangle - if we’re lucky only diminishes to 2 friends - but that’s not counting the dozens new forum friends, all priceless.

Now, wait one pluperfect moment here, Fuzzy. I've sent you tons of dough, and where did it all go? Into donuts, and the like? Hmmmmm?;)
Perhaps one of the ladies above who love purses got it by accident in which case chances are they added to their purse collection , expensive taste in purses they have , purses that cost as much as a house .

I was looking for a senior forum and found this one by googling.
I truly enjoy being a member here. I want to thank Matrix for giving us this possibility.
I love our interactions, and the variety of subjects discussed.
I feel I have known most members for years and consider them as good friends.
I look forward to signing on and reading them as often as possible.

I joined in search of senior citizens with whom(who?) to communicate. Ya know, talk to. Happily found this forum. Had a good time until it seemed to me the other members are far more educated than I, a mere high school graduate. Also a person who stays homebound because my excessive shaking is mistaken by observers to be from drugs, alcohol, fear, nervousness, or cold. Highly embarrassing.

I’m so used to speaking with my children about non-old people interests, I lack how to tell my opinion on various subjects brought up that are of interest to us ā€œoldiesā€. Thank you all for bearing with me. J

Can not lie, miss me buddies on SO. But maybe it was time to move on anyway. I had never stayed on a forum of any kind until I found that place.I have checked out a few since joining here, and I am no thank you. This place just seems closer to what I was use to. For now its just getting use the feel and learning everyone's names and likes.

Don't worry... we know how you feel , some of us have been misplaced in the past from other forums as well, and lost friends we'd had for years..

With regard to SO.. there's still a chance it'll be back up ad running again.. but if not..most of the member overthere have either already been members o this forum.. or know of this forum.. so if SO doesn't restart, then hopefully your buddies will find their way over here... šŸ¤—

Here is a good "come back " for somebody who remarks about your shaking.....I am Micheal J Fox's Mother. That sort of shuts up most people, and in any case....Who cares ??

About your level of education.....I quit high school at age 16. Over more than 50 years of working, I have started three different business enterprises, all of which I later sold for a profit. Over the years I have employed over 60 people in my business operations, and some of those people are still my friends, today. My Wife and I own our home, debt free, and we live well. JIM
