"Carl and I spent a wonderful 60 years together."
Parton met Carl outside the Wishy Washy Laundromat the day she moved to Nashville at 18.
"I was surprised and delighted that while he talked to me he looked at my face."
He seemed genuinely interested in finding out who I was and what I was about"
They were married on May 30 1966.
Parton and Dean kept their relationship private for decades, Parton saying in1984: "A lot of people say there is no Carl Dean, that he's just somebody I made up to keep other people off me."
He inspired Parton's classic, Jolene, the singer saying she wrote the song about a flirty bank teller who took a fancy in him.

I was one of those people. Finally, I believe he was real or she wouldn't announce his passing.

She is a wonderful star and I have great respect for her

She's told that same story for the last 50 years..... she also says she convinced him to go to a Music award show once very early in their marriage .. and afterwards he said to her ''don't ever ask me to go to one of those things again''.. she never did and he never did go... they were 2 completely oppposite characters, she's 4 feet 10 withut the 3 inch heels and the 6 inch high wigs.. he was over 6 feet tall....

..... he kept horses, and was man who was used to working with his hands, he had his own asphalt business .. she was the Queen of showbiz, they never had children, but she was from a huge loving close-knit family who became his family too when she was away on the road..... ... so probably being apart for most of their married life kept everything fresh...
