Made scratch cake - it tasted very bitter

I just did. I made some modifications - 1 tsp baking powder, slightly more sugar, used acidified milk, and for the fat quantity, half butter and half oil.
Rebound - when it comes to baking it is called recipe not guideline. You are dealing with chemical reactions. This is like filling your car with half diesel.

Waiting to hear the taste test results :)
This one seemed to have a finer texture, but I could still taste the baking powder to a lesser degree. Now it has a slightly sour taste, probably due to the homemade "buttermilk". I think I'll stick to getting a boxed cake mix when I'm in the mood for cake. More expensive, but all I have to do is add milk, oil and eggs.
