How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

It's just after 6pm..starting to get dark... I've been out all day to a Historical house an hour away from where I live ( 2 hour round trip).

I've been there before several times but this is the first time alone... It was such a beautiful day, I couldn't resist....so if you're a Downton Abbey fan.. keep an eye out for the pictures of the inside of the house when I post them in the photography section..I'll tell you when..

I go home about 5.30pm had only just got changed and had a cuppa tea.. and next door who have got some friends here for the weekend, and BBQ'ing... came around with this enormous platter of food, even the bread roll was freshly baked and still hot...

There's 2 cakes on the platter as well...

I'm absolutely convinced they think I need feeding...lol. It's no wonder their kids are so tall for their age.. the 3 year old is the size of a 5 years ..the 12 year old is as tall as me and the 9 year old not far behind her
Good grief there’s enough there for three people! Looks delish

I got a bit of a bargain today... it cost £19.50 ($25.00 ) for entry just for me... but if I signed up to 12 months to visit loads of other ancestral houses around the country, that includes Scotland and Wales too .. for £66... they returned today's admission price ... so actually what happened was the £66 was reduced for a senior Concession to £52.. and then they took the £19.50 off... so to be able to visit loads of other places for the next 12 months has just cost £32.50 total...

@Georgiagranny ...bluddy scammers ...thank goodness they diidn't get anything... but what a PITA

Yes you could live in my spare room Gigi..I think they've adopted me as their In loco Parentis..being as both of their parents are in Romania... so they might want a a Georgia Grandma too...lol

of course I can't eat that vast amount of food so I had a chicken drumstick.. 1/2 a sausage, and the bread roll.. and put the rest in the fridge for tomorrow..

My legs are feeling it today the 4th day in the row driving.. and today was a bit of a trial because it was all through farmland and country lanes, and they're so narrow you have to keep wits about you to avoid colliding with oncoming traffic around a blind bend, bearing in mind my car is a manul 9 stick shift) .. . It's a beautiful way to travel but you do have to keep your eyes on the road at all times..

I was surpised when I got to the Stately home just how many pople were already there.. it had only been open 2 hours... this was the car park.. and this doesn't include the disabled car park next to the house, which was packed as well

Many rural gravels roads in Mo. are narrow one lanes with lots of curves, meet a tractor with a mower, Combine in the fall or
Corn planter in the spring and its a clog. Even with them folded the tractor is wider than the road. The ditch is usually not deep though.
Big problem if there is a 18-wheeler in front coming at cha.

In west central Il. near the Mississippi & il. River, the roads get very narrow & very hilly too. Great Jeep / small 4x4's fun though.

Looks like you are sitting fat and sassy with home delivery.

Cinna, you mentioned your Bradford pear tree. I have heard they smell bad and 3 states have outlawed them as being 'invasive'.

I think they're so pretty in their delicate white. Have you ever noticed an odor? Just curious; you're the only one I know who has one. TY
They are extremely fast growing with not only runners but also seedlings and tend to break in high storms. Not allowed in our area anymore. Considered an invasive species.

I cook all my food if I am home. I don't trust restaurants on the food quality and ingredients. I bought as much organic as I can. I use olive oil and avocado oil, not seed oil or vegetable oil. I eat whole grain bread, not wheat bread.

I cook most of mine at home.. but I do eat out as well...

My neighbours are Eastern European, and she loves to cook from scratch, and she regularly makes a plate for me alongside her family... and either she or her husband will bring it around.. they're so kind.. there's no need ..I'm not an old fragile woman that needs looking after, but they like to do it so who am I to refuse their kindness...

I always buy them a gift in return..wine, chocolates, or flowers every week.....and they always really try hard to refuse it...

~In the middle of the night I Swiffer-ed the kitchen and bathroom floors and later in the day, I Swiffer-ed in the bedroom.

~I caught up with some things on the forum, then worked on my taxes a bit.
~Sorted more laundry…is there no end?!!

~I turned a box that egg whites came in into a storage container for my son’s juice bottles. I used alcohol wipes on cardboard that came inside my eyedrops shipment , then cut them to size to separate the bottles. After moving some items and throwing a couple of things out, I even found a place to store them.

~I packed up some items to give to my upstairs neighbor. My eyedrops are shipped in ice packs that can be used as plant food when thawed. Protective insulation material wrapped in plastic is also in the box. She’s always happy to get those things. I also gave her a box of stones that I used in the fountain I used to have. She said she’s getting ready to do some planting and the stones are right on time.

Stones are good to put in the bottom of plant pots for drainage (y)

Good idea to convert the box into storage for the juice bottles. The coffee I sometimes buy comes in nice little jars which, once empty, are perfect for storing buttons and things. I actually used some in the freezer, filled with some ice cream and fruit and leaving space at the top for the contents to expand when frozen, they make good individual desserts. I like finding uses for things which seem too good to waste :)

@hollydolly it arrived from Amazon today. :)

Power Bank...good for 2 to 3 phone charges! :)
excellent.. Mine does about 3 charges from completely empty...and today I used my phone as a sat nav.. and had it plugged into the Charging bank because my cigarette lighter connection isn't working.. so it got me to my destination an hour away... took 50 photos, and 3 videos... and then got me back again.... and the charging bank had only used 40 %... and had kept my phone fully charged... so I think you're going to like this PD... like I said before , anytime you don't want to use electricity to charge your phone just use the charging bank.. and when you have your power cuts use the CB on your phone and laptop... .

these are similar to mine... I have 3...

@hollydolly Okay, then. I'm moving in. On the days when your back or knees are arguing with you, you'd have me to do the heaving lifting...so to speak. And on the occasions when your neighbors send over carbs along with the protein, I'll graciously help you out by consuming the carbs so you don't have to. You wouldn't want them to go to "waist."

Before I forget, if after all is said and done with your stb ex you find yourself able to keep your house, please have a chair lift installed so we won't have to worry about you upping and downing the stairs. Okay?

Stupid clock says it's 8:30, but it's really only 7:30. I'm not tired yet, but in an hour it's time for bed except not really. I hate the time change! And when I get up tomorrow morning it'll be dark o'clock. I hate getting up in the dark. (insert heavy sighs here)

I was thinking that if he walked away with his and your finances, you'd sell up and move closer to the city. Or was the possibility of moving so that you'd be closer to shops and stuff as you approach your "eld"?

Anyway, I don't want you to move because "we" can eat so well with the meals that "our" neighbors share.

BTW, are you up for teaching me how to drive on the left side of the road? I already know how to drive a manual transmission.

On another note, I'm watching murder shows. The one on right now? One of the people has a surname of "Boob." Not kidding. Boob.
