How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

Was on phone with medical office much of the day yesterday. Hard to get a procedure date, as the first ones offered I already had other doctor appointments set up! The Life of an Old Woman! Doctors!
The next appointments offered were on my son's BD or when he will be in Europe. The one I will accept today is for April 30th!
This was all supposed to be done December! but due to my mental breakdown then three weeks with flu it is now at a date I feel I can handle. The procedure is endoscopy/colonoscopy. Blood tests have indicated I need this done, want or not, and who in their right mind would want?

Also managed yesterday to take lovely walk around my park. It was sunny, in the sixties, no wind. I was in my element, oh boy. Love Spring, I feel so much happier in warmth and sunlight. Soak it up!

I spent last night at the emergency room with my youngest son, 39 who was admitted with a burst appendix. He was on antibiotics through a IV and slept, my daughter in law slept in a chair, I paced around the room and up and down the hallway. The hospital kicked me out. No matter how big our kids get they’re still our babies and we worry.

Morning all folks!!! Slept fairly well, up at 530am, got the
usual aches/pains going on today....50F outside, going to 70 today, no rain, we're getting very dry here.....I stepped out for
a minute yesterday and was sneezing right a way, so got to
stock up on Clairitin, bummer....no big plans...y'all take care now
ya'hear!!!!!! ;):love::coffee:

It's gonna be sunny and warm today, but right now it's on 36F.

DD is gonna continue her assault on the driveway and walkways; I'm gonna plant stuff and play in the dirt.

Gotta run. Need to get potting soil before it gets light out and DD gets started. Once she starts, she won't take a break until she's done, and hers is an all-day project.

How is your son feeling today? @MaddHollander
Sending positive thoughts to him .. and you 🤗

Did more yard work yesterday evening. Dio cut another cedar tree and I dragged the branches into the woods. I've lost count, that is at least the 7th cedar tree that has been cut down, with at least 3 more to be done. Cedar is one of my allergy triggers, so it's not a fun job, but the cedars have outgrown there area and are starting to crowd the driveway....so it needs to got done! It's physically hard work, so at least I sleep well at night! 😅

It's going to be a day in town for me, today.

My first stop will be at my Orthopaedic Surgeon's office. I'm finally going to get the shot for my knee!! While there, I'm going to bombard him with a gazillion questions. LOL

After that, gym, coffee, Library, groceries, pizza....all of the usual stops, plus a few extra ones. It's going to be a long day!

Since I've been working with cedar trees every evening, I can tell you that allergy season is here....let the fun begin! LOL

Good Morning, Everyone 🤗 🌻 :coffee:

It's Tuesday so husband is off today. Yay. :)

It's going to be another nice day so maybe I'll take another bike ride. 🚲

Other than the above, I'll walk the dog, work on my projects, clean things, hang out with boyfriend on the phone, the usuals.

I had the weirdest dream last night that I cut my hair, which was all different pastel colors, only myself this time and I chopped it to bits. I had to wait all day for my stylist and when I finally got in her chair she was all stressed out over her life and her husband's not working.

You know, I think I woke up before I could get my hair fixed. It was one of those dreams a person is happy to wake and realize was just a dream.

Happy coffee, eveyone. :)

At 71, my wife has handed in the resignation from her 30+ years of teaching. Finally I will have again a full-time wife.

Well, when I scolded my 7 y/o daughter, she went into the dog house and complained to our Doberman Pinscher how bad daddy is.

Left: For almost a year, I measured at our house only 2 1/2 inches of rain (mega drought) but this week will hopefully bring us a little bit more rain.

Right: If I were a millionaire, I might buy an expensive Tesla Cybertruck as a novelty. But with my means, if I wanted a truck, I would buy a regular P/U with a greater payload for a fraction of the price. And for a regular sedan, I bought my wife for her retirement a Toyota RAV4 for 1/3 of the price.

After cutting a tree that was leaning and about to fall onto the house, I advertised the wood pieces as free firewood. In order to sell the wood, I would have had to cut the wood into small pieces, but I don't have the strength and necessary equipment for doing so. OK, I had some help for cutting the trunk. The left picture shows the shed I built by myself years ago and that is about to fall apart.

Yesterday was tiring. Early morning appointment followed by a busy day, on little sleep. Paid the roofing contractor the deductible for a new roof to be installed later this month.

Then the housemates got into a rare shouting match over unresolved accusations. Late in the day my lab results came in showing that I am anemic again. No wonder I have been so tired.

Managed to drive to the store at dusk to pick up iron and vitamin C supplements. I hope they help.

Early spring Goldenrod & Yellow Daisy's begin popping by the acre. Its not as bad as Ragweed!
Some like to eat goldenrod. I'm happy when it's chisel plowed and corn / beans planted
in their place.
We have forsythia and daffodils. Tons of white Bradford pear trees are blooming. They were the darlings of landscapers 35 years ago. They went out of favor due to the splitting of the trunk during storms but they are still everywhere and very pretty.

A sunny day with Clairitin beats a gloomy one without.

@Babs2u Broccoli and avocados...get as much iron as you can from real veggies.

Bradford pear trees provide nice shade, but when they're in bloom they stink. Really stink. They smell like rotting fish.

I've been to the garden center, got potting soil and some tickseed plants, planted zinnia, cosmos, daisy seeds. Tickseed bedding plants because I haven't been able to find seeds. And the blue phlox and creeping phlox that I got on Sunday have been planted. It's starting to look like a garden :)

Now I'm tired. BBL

At 71, my wife has handed in the resignation from her 30+ years of teaching. Finally I will have again a full-time wife. I just completed paperwork for the school district to certify until what date we are covered by their health plan. Then we'll have to apply for Medicare, and finally reapply to Kaiser www.kp.org of which I have been a continuous member since 1970. After I retired from work in 2007, I had double healthcare insurance for ten years (Medicare and my wife's employer) to find out about other healthcare providers, but I eventually decided to stay with Kaiser for the rest of my life. Double insurance saved my life because physicians are regrettably not infallible.

Congratulations to you and your wife on her retirement! Remember, be patient. It takes a while for you both to adjust. Especially the one who's retiring.

Have driven to city about an hour north of my home, dropped off some forms (I don’t trust the mail to get them here — and besides, I needed an excuse to have a short trip 😉)

Now going to check out TJ Maxx and maybe some consignment shops.

Last stop will be Kroger’s, where I can get some needed items not available in my town.

I had an order for delivery with Publix and the shopper delivered it to someone else and said it was delivered to me. I complained and they refunded the order. I reordered and received the delivery. It was weird as the first shopper did have the crackers I ordered and the second shopper said they were sold out. After two items not available, and the $5.00 credit for my inconvenience, the order did cost less.

I do wonder who received the groceries from the first order or if the shopper kept them. They could not contact the shopper on the first order who made the mistake.

Stones are good to put in the bottom of plant pots for drainage (y)

Good idea to convert the box into storage for the juice bottles. The coffee I sometimes buy comes in nice little jars which, once empty, are perfect for storing buttons and things. I actually used some in the freezer, filled with some ice cream and fruit and leaving space at the top for the contents to expand when frozen, they make good individual desserts. I like finding uses for things which seem too good to waste :)
Yes Trish, that's what she said she'd use them for. She also helps with the plantings in our courtyard every year. One of the reasons I love shopping at Costco is that the items come in sturdy reusable containers. Over the years I've used their plastic containers as canisters for dry goods and nuts. I got a nice sized one when I bought the almond biscotti.

Like you, I like reusing items and have some on hand for when I may need them. Two of these were part of packaging (forgot from where) and I immediately saw how handy they could be...and so sturdy, so I couldn't throw them away. I gave one to my neighbor. The other one is under my dining table where we store bottled water, just waiting for me to find a use for it. I have similar smaller ones that I'm using to store beauty items in the drawer of a rolling cart in my closet. It holds lip gloss, eyebrow shavers, emery boards, trial sized hand cream and sample sized items. We're so smart. :D
