I love checking in on these nests, every day, and thought I'd share them with my SF friends......

This is Jackie and Shadow, in Big Bear Valley in the San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California. In previous years, they have had a hard time raising a family. Either no eggs, eggs don't hatch or are eaten by predators. They have had eggs hatch, but only a few of their babies have ever survived.

Each year is a fresh start. This year, Jackie has laid 3 eggs! Fingers crossed that all goes well this time!

This nest is in Decorah, Iowa. The Eagles do not officially have names.

She has the finest view from her nest that I’ve ever seen. Beautiful and majestic birds. May their babies live long full lives along with their parents.

What a gift to see them in their natural habitat.

I didn't realize that you had included a link, also. I just checked it out....love it!!!! Thanks for the link!
From the monitoring team
YouTube & monitoring camera offline - The main electric external supply cable was damaged this morning so hopefully this is being repaired now. A new link will be posted when power is restored.

We have quite a few nesting pairs along the Mississippi River and Illinois River.
They like to fish the Rivers near the Lock & Dams that the Barge Boats need to have
a deep Chanel for transport of Grain and heavy stuff. The Crow like them too.
The rivers have quite high bluffs for them to nest in, those trees, hard to get to.

It's strongest survive in the Wild. One will be pushed out of the nest before it can fly. The parents will call and call.
Maybe it will find safety for some time and the parents will feed it. The weakest will mostly die. This goes on most
all of summer.

I'm watching it right now.

It concerns me that the oldest chick is always biting the middle chick on the back of the neck. Such a bully!

The youngest one just ducks down under all the mayhem. LOL.
IKR?!!!!! I suppose that it is a case of survival of the fittest, but as young as they are, I would have hope that Mom and Dad would intervene. At least long enough for the chick to gain some strength and stand up for itself!!!
