Live, Bald Eagle nest cams....

At what point are they stopped being called chicks and called eaglets? Anyone know ?
I'm not an expert, but I think fledglings are considered eaglets.
Youโ€™re both right. They ARE called eaglets.

Eaglet: A young eagle from days after hatching (hatchling) up to the period before the first flight (fledgling).

Just watching, (Thursday evening) and it looks like snow is coming in. The chicks take up just about the entire nest now.

Is it weird that I'm legitimately worried about these chicks not being covered?

Where are mom and dad???!!! LOL.

Well, it's been a month since I last posted anything.

Gizmo and Sunny are getting ready to start their own lives any day now.

I watch them for at least a little while, every day. They're flapping and hovering.

the other day, there were really strong winds, and one of them actually flapped into the air and was 'flying' in place.

It's hard to believe these were two little balls of gray fuzz two months ago. Now, every time one of them starts flapping, I think "This is it, there they go" LOL.

Here's the latest video. All you really need to see are the first two minutes.

I think they're getting ready to go. This video footage is from yesterday. Their parents haven't been feeding them for a few weeks now.

They just bring the fish, drop it in the nest, and the kids feed themselves. Sometimes the battles get fierce, as you can see in this video. (4:12)

I watch them for a little while every day. They won't be around much longer. They barely spend any time in the nest anymore, choosing instead to sit on the branches outside the nest.

Being out of work on short term disability, I've had time to watch these two every day. It's very peaceful watching them hop around.

They rarely spend any time in the nest, other than to sleep or eat. The rest of the time, they're out on the branches of the tree, flapping and hopping and floating.

I'm going to miss them.
