Microchipping Newborns in the Future

I believe this will occur in my lifetime.

It will be a Government 'suggestion' for safety. Then it will go from encouragement...into Law. Then the Government will be able to track your every move from cradle to grave. My Big Brother theory.

Don't you need a new ID Pass now in the United States for travel? See? It's already begun.

Please post an official link for the statement that you need an ID Pass to travel within the US. Thank you.

That legislation (i.e., REAL ID) has been in play for awhile now. Its enforcement kept getting bumped because of COVID-19.

I don’t have a problem with the idea of a chip if it helps to locate missing children, senile adults, etc…

Imagine how much such a thing would have helped in locating the missing two year old in Oregon or the young woman in Punta Cana.

I suppose that they could include legislation that required law enforcement or government agencies to obtain some sort of search warrant or waiver to track individuals.

Most of us are already tracked through our phones. Every time you go past a phone mast, it registers. Recently, where I live, this helped to track the movements of a murderer. It didn't seem to occur to him that with CCTV and the phone masts, there was an accurate record of his movements.

In PA, we must have a “Real ID” driver’s license, state ID card or a passport to board an airplane on and after May 7, unless the government moves it ahead again. It’s the government’s way of cutting down on the fraud. IMO, nothing is 100% certain. There are already counterfeit passports on the black market for sale if you have the $$$$. I doubt if anyone on this forum has a need for one.

In my 37 years in LE, we have caught a few counterfeiters. This is a Federal crime, so when we nabbed these people, we turned them over to the FBI and they were arraigned and tried in Federal court and spent their jail time in Federal prison. Even the user of the counterfeit passport will be charged, except if the passport is not scanned and they are accepted.

Most every country now uses biometric passports.

What I would much rather see is DNA testing of all newborns. This would help in tracking parentage for support…and many other uses.
From a Google search:

In the US, states can mandate newborn screening, allowing hospitals to draw blood for DNA testing without a warrant, and often, without parental consent, as long as it's for specific, public health-related genetic disorder screening.

The DNA cannot be placed into CODIS, unless the law is amended and/or revised. JMO

I think my dire prediction will come to light one of these days.

Wasn't the Covid vaccine a Government 'suggestion' before it became mandatory for most employment?

. So Is it just verified photo ID - which is fairly standard in Aus for lots of things. Usually a drivers licence or if you don't drive, is easy to get a proof of age card to use in its place.
I don't see that as a big deal.

Mine is an enhanced driver’s license that required me to submit various forms of identification to prove my identity at the time it was issued.

It saves having to provide similar documentation every time someone attempts to verify who I am.
