the thing I find about Aldi is that they don't sell seedless grapes.. which I prefer.. so I think that's why they're cheaper...Grapes are often more reasonable at Walmart and Aldi.

what an incredible constituion you must have Lois... unelievable at 92 that you should go through this and come out the other side ....... thank god for it ...I had a horrible winter, 911. Went from multiple focal pneumonia right into gastro-intestinal flu. Could not keep even a drop of water down. I nearly took myself to the hospital, for I.V. therapy, as I was dehydrating big time.
I was sucking on wrapped ice cubes to keep my mouth dampened. I did not say a word to anyone about how sick I was, other than my doctor.
She was a nervous wreck over me, but Nurse, Lois here, said, "I know how to take care of myself." At 92, I knew it was do or die. The weight I did have fell off my bones like crazy.
I pulled through and am fine today. How long that will last? Who knows? But, I say, "Bring it on."
Thank you for your concern. I do appreciate it. Hugs.
I cannot confirm most of those prices plus the items are too generic to work up anything.Someone made a 2019 versus 2024 price comparison spreadsheet for Walmart food prices:

It's getting more costly because I believe I've developed stomach ulcers and am eating a lot more eggs because of that and it helps.![]()
The grapes from my Aldi are seedless.the thing I find about Aldi is that they don't sell seedless grapes.. which I prefer.. so I think that's why they're cheaper...
Did you know that you are not only supposed to eat grape seeds, but chew them well before swallowing?the thing I find about Aldi is that they don't sell seedless grapes.. which I prefer.. so I think that's why they're cheaper...
Grape seeds are a rich source of antioxidants, flavonoids, and melatonin, which may support heart and brain health, kidney health, better sleep, and normal circulation.
Very interesting & good to know.Did you know that you are not only supposed to eat grape seeds, but chew them well before swallowing?
Thank you for doing that!Yes and we aid in buying for 2 food banks. We are glad to be able to provide for others less fortunate.
They're still high here but I have found them for $8.00 per dozen instead of ten so that's good. Otherwise I am still still eating really well pretty much.I am not having any trouble with buying my regular groceries. The eggs have come down a $1. since last week. So at $4.97 presently.
I don't look at prices anymore. Life is short and getting shorter and I buy what I want. I pay with a credit card, but if I had to shell out cash from my wallet, I would be too aware of what I'm spending.
Most groc I buy are frozen. Unfrozen raw foods I cook, mix together into single meals which I then freeze till I'm ready to eat them
@Lewkat, I am so glad you are OK now. What an ordeal. You are tough!I had a horrible winter, 911. Went from multiple focal pneumonia right into gastro-intestinal flu. Could not keep even a drop of water down. I nearly took myself to the hospital, for I.V. therapy, as I was dehydrating big time.

I love cotton candy grapes, @hollydolly! But I stopped buying them because of the cost.I buy grapes every week, I pay a little more for them because I like the Cotton candy flavour.. so they're a little bit of a premium, .. at ÂŁ2.40 for 500g which is 1.1 pounds... at Tesco regular grapes are approx ÂŁ2.00 for 500g .... at Aldi , just ÂŁ1.40 per 500g
Among things I can't forget from the wartime years...powdered eggs. I'll go without before I will ever eat them again. Trust me. They "ain't bad--tasting?" Nope. They're vile. Vile, I tell you.Powdered eggs? "ain't bad--tasting?" Good idea. I've been hungry for eggs & can't afford to be picky. I think I'll try them powdered.![]()

We haven't changed our grocery-buying much; therefore, we have noticed the change in spending for groceries.
I came close, I can tell you. I had just gotten over the pneumonia and the very next day, it hit me like a steam engine. I haven't any recall of ever having such constant vomiting and then the attendant diarrhea that followed. KSav, how I pulled thru it is beyond me. When I beat COVID when it first came out, and no treatments at that time. Fevers of 104 for a couple of days makes me wonder what I am made of. But, I thank God every day that I was blessed with a brain to know what to do. Thank you for your concern.@Lewkat, I am so glad you are OK now. What an ordeal. You are tough!
I had appendicitis once and couldn't keep water down, either. I was still shocked, though, at how quickly dehydration set in. By the time I got to the hospital, the nurse had a heck of a time trying to get the cannula for the IV in.
We didn't have a dog until we came back stateside after the war. It didn't take me long to figure out how to slip nasty (IMO) stuff to the dog. After the war, though, we didn't have to eat powdered eggs or drink powdered milk or cook anything in lard.@Georgiagranny
You too. I remember "sit there until you do". Thats how people end up with food issues.
I was a picky and stubborn child. If I didnt like something I would sit there until the sun came up.
Sometimes I would luck out and sneak it to the dog.![]()
I have the meat grinder for the KitchenAid and a number of discs. Works like a charm. We mostly do our meat shopping at a Store chain that has real live butchers at the meat counter.
They do a good job and we look at meat sales obviously closely. I like to see them grinding up
beef for hamburger also. That package crap is so chewy, glued whatever.
I sat out Christmas Eve which is Christmas for us over endive salad with grapefruit. Two hours into solitary at the kitchen table the unexpected rescue came from my Grandmother who ate that magazine concoction.@Georgiagranny
