While in a marriage or relationship. When is texting/emailing cheating?

There are so many types of marriages, relationships and levels of
chosen commitments. Some open marriages and relationships, others
not.

Anyway, each couple hopefully and honestly will define and communicate
the do's and don't of their feelings on this topic. Honesty and trust, that
goes a long way in my book.

So is texting and or emailing cheating? Yes, and of course it can be, absolutely.
Depends on the content and intention and outcome. IMO

My wife and I had a discussion about this a few times. We think it's OK for women to have male friends and men to have female friends. But, as Pinky stated, as long as it's kept friendly and no mention of love or sex is put into any conversations or writings of any type, it's OK. I have a few female friends from the airline that have retired and we call each other for no other reason than to just keep in touch. My wife is aware of it and is OK with it.

Never. Ya couldn't blame a landline phone for calling and setting up a date, or a car for taking ya to a motel. Just use common sense. They are just devices.

Hmm not sure about that Veronica - people often find it easier to talk through problems and feelings with someone outside the situation.
I wouldn't call that cheating.

I think it's unnatural to be wholly attached to one person. I have spent hours chatting to married men on the internet and it seems to give them something they need. Surely it's better to talk to someone by phone or e-mail than actually having an affair?

A married male friend of mine used to email me all the time and go a little too far for people who were just good friends. One day he asked me to go out for a drive and I said sure, let's bring your WIFE. This ended everything for a long time and we didn't speak but later made up and he's never behaved inappropriately since. Maybe you should say something when things get uncomfortable.
