Tennessee Ernie Ford did that song in the mid to late 50's...I was very young, but I still remember it.

I wasn't sure he could be considered a Pop singer. So many people cross genres these days. But I think Jesse Gold fits the category of a Pop singer. If so, he is my absolute favorite; he's got so much soul. I've purchased several of his tracks, including this first one.

No, of course he is from current day, but I was listening to him today and I wanted to give him his "props". I guess the only Pop singer from the 50's that I mentioned in my 3 replies is Bobby Darin. Guess it's because I was more into R & B and Jazz back then.
