Why/when did you stop talking to an inanimate doll, teddy bear, etc.

I had a teddy bear I called Friend Bear. On the drive back home from Disneyland I was shocked to realize FB was missing!

My parents said he was probably left at the motel. They refused to go back (guess about 100 miles) to the motel. When we got home they called the motel and told me FB was not left there.

To this day I suspect they intentionally decided it was time for me to stop talking to him.

I still have the big teddy bear I got for my second birthday. I even remember my father taking me to a toy store in Charleston to let me pick something out. He and the owner were pushing hard for a mechanical monkey that played the cymbals.:rolleyes:

I toddled over to a stockroom and pointed to the teddy bear which was wrapped in cellophane on a top shelf. My dad had to climb a ladder to get him down.

He currently stays on the top shelf of my son's closet and I talk to him whenever I go in there to hang up clean clothes.
He has wonderful protective power.

I rescued a stuffed tiger from a trash can display at a woman's yard sale 10 or so years ago and bought him for 25 cents. I had a feeling he wouldn't have had a bright future without me. He's my mascot now. I take him lots of places and we talk all the time. We even snuggle. BF is jealous. Too bad. :ROFLMAO:

Along with the characters in my storybooks, mostly the 25 cent ones from the grocery store, and later from the library;

Stuffed animals and dolls were my best friends and most dependable family members.

No pets allowed, so I'm grateful for those childhood friends!
