Free slug with every cauliflower.

A fair proportion of the fresh cauliflowers that I have bought have a slug lurking within it. Mrs. L tends to dismiss this , saying that it proves the cauli hasn't been treated with pesticides. Never the less, I don't like finding these horrible creatures in my vegetables.
Have any of you ever found an unwelcome visitor lurking in your fruit or vegetables?

I found a fat frisky earthworm hiding in a cauliflower.

Worms in sweet corn are common.

It amazes me that I’ve never found any critters in the layers of a fresh cabbage.

It’s not a significant problem in my home kitchen but it does make me wonder about some processed frozen foods.

If you are concerned about it try submerging fresh vegetables in heavily salted water to flush out the critters.
