Have you ever met an old flame? What happened?

I met mine at our HS 50th year reunion. We both wished our only marriage was to one another.
I love the meaning of the song Taxi:
Harry Chapin’s “Taxi” is a nostalgic journey that tells the story of a cab driver encountering an old flame. It’s a poignant narrative about life’s twists and turns—how big dreams often give way to reality. The message? It’s a blend of reflection on lost love and the acceptance of life’s unexpected paths. The song reflects on the gap between youthful aspirations and adult realities. Chapin weaves this experience with a sense of personal retrospect, possibly drawing from his own life’s what-ifs. He explores the universal theme of the roads we take and the ones we leave behind.

Have you played his Sequel song. Pretty cool how he's now 10 years later and meets Sue again.

About a year after my wife passed away I met a lady that I went out with for a while about 40 years ago. We ran into each other again and again different places and saw each other's posts on fb. She messaged me asking if I would be interested in going for dinner with a few other people she gets together with. She recognized that it might put me a bit out of my comfort zone, but I figured it might be good to test it.
There are six or seven of us that get together pretty much once a month now. I didn't know it for the first few times that all of us have lost loved ones in the recent past.
We have a good time and talk a lot.

I went out with a guy, I was about 19. I can't remember why we broke up so obviously nothing traumatic. Met him again somewhere( can't remember where) in my late twenties. Started going out again. Phoned his parents' home because somehow I didn't have his present phone number, and needed to tell him something about a change in plans. I had met his parents previously when I was 19.

So his mother answers the phone and she says that he doesn't live there anymore, which made sense. I explained who I was and she remembered who I was. I was just going to tell her why I was calling and she cut me off, nicely, and said, " Oh, how nice to hear from you. Are you married now too? Joe (her son, my old boyfriend) is out picking up his wife at work. "

Well, you could have knocked me over with a feather. So I lied and said that, " Oh, Joe and I saw each other downtown, and just had a coffee. I'm still studying at McGill and I think Joe took a book of mine by mistake." Anyways, I made up something like that. I don't know how I made anything up, I was in shock! In retrospect, I should have told his mom! Anyways he never called me back. I think his mom knew that he was fooling around and let him know.
