Have you ever had a reading by a medium?

I recently took two painting classes and part of it was a reading by a medium. I was on the fence about meeting with her but it was part of the class, so I did it. It was just a 10-minute reading.

The first one, she talked about a "she" (? my mother); something about going forward with having tests done (it wasn't serious, but needed to be done). I do have labs due and I have been putting them off. I left there thinking the reading was vague. We were told she expected a tip. I gave her $5.

Second reading was vague and could have applied to anyone. She had me squeeze a ball (um why). She squinted her eyes and looked to the heavens. She again talked about a "she". "The angel walks with you". "You are a nurturer" (i am not). I felt like she was making it up as she went along. I was the first reading of the day and there were three 20-dollar bills in the basket. I laid my $5 on top.

She ended up not doing 4 readings because she had a "spiritual blockage". She announced the blockage to us as a group and said "ohhh all your loved ones are trying to talk to me at once". I shook my head, rolled my eyes, and knew that was it for me. I wasn't a believer. 👼

I had a reading done back when I was in college and in a much-regretted phase of dabbling in divination. It was bull, in my opinion: nebulous "predictions" that could have meant just about anything. I wasn't impressed.

Many years ago at a charity event I had a tarot and a palm reading.

They both made a good show of making vague statements that could apply to the majority of people.

It was for a good cause and came under the heading of entertainment.

At one point in my life, I was into the occult, like a bunch of my friends. Remember the Shirley McLain time. We formed a small group. Edgar Casey was a seer and medium, and our group associated with his foundation. Somehow, I began to "channel" like Casey. Soon friends asked me questions, when I was in a "trance". I said whatever came into my head. And some stuff actually came true, but a lot more didn't.
A friend asked for a "reading", and I gave her one. Later, I became aware that she treated that like it was scripture from the Bible. I never thought anyone would use my reading to structure their life. I knew that wasn't right. After a while, I came to see that mediums don't tell the past or the future, but only satisfy the insecurities of the present.
Since that time, I've become an ardent realist.

Nah. That stuff is malarkey.

Funny thing, though. My wife is going at the end of August for her vacation with my daughter to some sort of Tarot/psychic/ healing convention weekend down at the beach.

The irony is, I paid for their tickets and their hotel room. But, they like it, and they get to spend the weekend together, so it's all good.

Ok, friends....The OP had a phony as we have figured out. The rest of you guys played with things you should never go near!!

As for me and my abilities, trust me, they are geninune and gratefully so. I don't do 'readings' nor offer any advice even when asked. I NEVER take or ask for money in any way.

When I do engage in conversation I am able to feel the person and the aura that is near them. Then I will tell them what I am able to do and from then on we go forward or not. I am not crazy about this ability but it is a gift.

Almost 2 yrs ago there was a 9 year old girl that was abducted near Saratoga Springs ny. I'm sure some of you might remember Charlotte. I saw the announcement on the news and got that feeling I get and I knew everything about the case right then. I sat with it for a few and then called the number they had shown. I was really angry.

I got a state trooper and told him these things:
To immediately get an Amber Alert out for her. They had not done that.
To call off the dogs, as she wasn't in the woods, that she has been taken to another location.

To look for a man in his late 20's in the area who drove a pick up. I told them this man had 2 VIN numbers and to check for him from that POV.
I told them that this man had done this before several years ago and was jailed for it, and to tie that in with the above.

I told them how the girl would be found, that she would be on her right side wearing only her orange tee shirt "in a dark place with something brown over her".

I told the that the man I saw was around 5'9", had a receding hairline and his hair was red.

Fortunately for her she was found alive. I got a call the next day from the officer in charge telling me that I had gotten it all right.

As for the 2 VIN numbers: he had the truck and he lived in a mobile home behind his mother's house. Mobile homes have VIN numbers. And they way she was found was in a kitchen cabinet with an orange tee shirt and a brown piece of fabric over her.

I am writing this here so that hopefully some of you will understand that this gift is real. There will be fakes, there are fakes everywhere doing all kinds of things.

I have done only one reading since then and I was told that I was spot on.
Be safe you guy and don't play with the occult in any way.

My mom and her then best friend had a psychic reading by a man named Viktor Venhaus, It was so accurate as events unfolded in subsequent years, I tried to fin him to do a reading for me but I never found him. I had a tarot reading by someone local and that was accurate too but not as shockingly so as V.V.'s.

@dusty Thank you for your post. Every other one was so negative about psychics.

I had a reading about 40 years ago, just before I left NY for CA. Everything the woman said about me, my past, and my future rang true for me and felt deeply emotional. I've always believed, basically, that "there is more to heaven and earth than is dreamt of in our philosophy" (said Shakespeare).

I was in a really bad place after a break-up on New Year's Day 1989. The other person went home and I was left alone in a hotel room in Washington DC. I felt so despondent I went to a tarot reader. She told me I had a "dark aura" which I'm sure she could see on my face. She went so far as to tell me I would live to 73 y/o. I'm now 67 so I guess I'd better live it up! ;) I didn't think tarot readers were supposed to disclose such things?

not a real physic

My ex wife went to one. The only thing I remember was that the medium said she would be surrounded by green, which turned out to be right as we lived in a pine forest, but I already knew that was the way it would be. Like a devoted follower of mediums, i forgot everything she got wrong.

OK, so I'm not a devoted follower, but my ex was attracted to magical things. I don't think she believed in all of them, but I think she wished she could.
