Books! How do you read and what do you read?

I'm listening to the latest from John Scalzi, my favorite sci/fi author, "When the Moon Hits Your Eye." It's a light-hearted story about what would happen if the moon really were made of cheese. Narrated by Wil Wheaton.
 

I recently finished reading a nice little piece of fiction about people in our age group. "How to Age Disgracefully" by Clare Pooley. Fun, lighthearted and more than a few twists and turns.

The title drew me in, but the writing kept me engaged.
 

NEWS OF THE WORLD by Paulette Jiles

This book is not about what is happening with the world now.

Takes place 'Out West' 1870.

An older gentleman, former solder is paid to return a young girl back to her kin folks.

Their encounters with people along the way helps them to form a partnership.

If you like historical fiction you will enjoy this one.

According the back page this novel / story was made into a motion picture.

I also do audiobooks and just got The Moors in Spain 2 days ago will listen tomorrow , I am a huge fan of the Moors but have other audiobooks on Barbarians and Rome .

Audiobooks have become somewhat limited but still lots history .

I buy directly from audiobook store not Amazon .
 
As usual, I’ve got several books all going at once..

Just finished “Ordinary Grace” by William Kent Krueger…. Very good; this author is growing on me

Also started (for library book club) “the Crocodile Bird” by Ruth Rendell..

Reading “Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand” by Helen Simonson out loud for Ed. I try to ‘do’ the voices— my general East Indian accent is a little wobbly; sometimes it sounds more like Irish lol

Lastly, I opted for “The Trumpeter of Krakow” by E. Kelly… I think it’s a classic? So far it’s a good read before bed

HI Cinammon Sugar, I recommend 2 other William Kent Krueger books"This Tender Land' is set in summer of 1932 at a Indian training school in Minnesota, 4 orphans leave& travel down the Mississippi, the people they meet, absolutely loved this book The other is"The River We Remember' a murder in a small Minnesota town was good. I've also read "Ordinary Grace' loved it as well Sue
 
I started reading Beowulf on the recommendation of Ann Patchett which I saw on a short video ‘reel’. But now, whenever we have the time I’ll be reading Ann’s Truth & Beauty aloud with my wife Lia. We just found 15 minutes to start before she had to run off to another doctor’s appointment. I’m going to have a hard time leaving this one alone.
