I too was a huge Lucy fan, along with Imogene Coca in their days. Without those two there never would have been a Carol Burnett (who I also loved).

No one is as cerebrally funny as was/is Elaine May. Both with and without her long term comedy partner Mike Nichols, she was a riot. I liked Phyllis Diller who was huge in the '60s-'70s.

But today my favorite is Leanne Morgan, as UpstateGal has mentioned. I'd love to see her live if she ever gets down to the Miss. Gulf Coast casinos.

You know aside from Leanne Morgan, I just don't find women really very funny tbh.... In sitcoms of course they're following a script and in those instances, people like Maggie Wheeler who played Janice in Friends, was funny to me... but she wasn't a comedian..

In Cheers, I thought both Kirsty Alley and Rhea Perlman delivered lines with excellent timing, and they were funny... but female stand up comedians leave me cold ..
