Shooting at Car Show In New Mexico. 3 Killed 15 Injured

That was a car meet up I think they're called. Not a car show as many news outlets are reporting.

They/drivers were already brandishing guns before the shooting started. Apparently issues in or near that park the day before. Gang beef.

This is also way can not let those car or atv meet ups continue. Local police need to break these things up immediately and not let them grow in size. This is why laws like 'unlawful assembly'

The police have arrested some suspects in the case.
 
The problem with the youth now a days is that if one even accidently offends them that is a death penalty. They are demanding respect and forcibly obtaining status. And they don't care about collateral damage.

In high school and/or junior stories and visual effects of collateral damage should be taught. I don't think some of the young gang bangers even know what collateral means. Nor do they care.

Car meet up....car show...whatever. It seems these unsanctioned events have happened in the past. I don't see why something wasn't done about it already. I guess like everything else, it takes people getting killed before something serious is done.

You are right about (too many of) today's youth. Back in our day, someone would fight you with their hands and beat the hell out of you if you stepped to them the wrong way. We didn't have to worry about all this shooting. I don't remember hearing anything about gangs in my city back then. Now they're everywhere, it seems.

This. These meet ups eventually fester a mob mentality as they grow and the adrenaline increases. Some police don't even want to deal with these calls without alot of back up because they know what could happen.

These car meet ups and participants also chew and/or mark up roads and parking lots spinning in circles. In some places they've started put this ultra thick and gritty driveway sealer or thin asphalt to help prevent screen tires and donut/circle type stunts.

Gangs are mobile obviously and they are probably funding those cars anyway they can. The mobility is what leads to many of these clashes because activity isn't confined to a neighborhood or block. Gangs don't like seeing rivals in 'their' territory.
 
I go to car meets, but stay away from the young groups that show off their Mitsubishiā€™s, Nissanā€™s, Hondaā€™s, Subaruā€™s and the like. They put those loud mufflers on their tin cans to make them sound like their hot. My son-in-lawā€™s son (my daughter and s-i-l were both married previously) bought a Mitsubishi that was built into a show and race car with a 1000 horsepower engine. The car sounds like it has no mufflers on it. It has headers on it, which are not street legal here in Pennsylvania.

Morons, imbeciles, & idiots! No one values a human life anymore. I can't decide which is dumber and more anti-life. The gun toting idiots who feel they have to carry a firearm wherever they go, or the stupid backward states and politicians who allow them to.

I was called to a few meets because of fights or in one instance a gun was brought into the fight. That young man was arrested and the weapon was confiscated. We try to settle these things by talking to the participants, but sometimes they donā€™t give us a choice.

I used to cruise Allbuquerque "way back" (particulary near VIP's Big Boy) and I even belonged to a car club. But, as you say ........
