A state fair ride a bit over the top.

They just did it for the attention and social media likes.they were called a "crew" as if they were actually piloting the craft
when actually they were just along for the ride
and being in space for a few minutes does not compare to those who have spent days, weeks, even months there
The stowaways on Gilligans Island did more.As a woman, I found the media coverage of the event to be embarrassing. I cringed when I saw Katy Perry kissing the ground after exiting the capsule. Her full makeup and professionally styled hair took longer than the 11 minute round trip.

The millions spent doesn't bother me, it is their money to waste. What is highly annoying is the accolades they all give themselves for going on a joy ride. Their false sense of accomplishment is utterly ridiculous.

THANK YOU!!!!!If the people who ride in that popgun rocket are astronauts, then I am an aviator because I flew on a commercial airline.
What I found amazing about the show was that the Professor could even make a robot out of coconuts yet he could never patch up the 2 foot hole the SS Minnow had .The stowaways on Gilligans Island did more.
Yes but we men often get a free pass and that works for me .Why is this thread just about women. There‘ve been lots of very rich men who went for this ride.

Give it a little time, I'm sure a few of the women on this forum will start calling me something worse than sexist for my commentYES!!!
I was afraid to be called a sexist if I mentioned the makeup and "do"
Glad to see you, as a woman, recognize that as an embarrassment
I’m glad somebody gets my point. Calling the people who ride in that spacecraft astronauts is simple theft of valor.THANK YOU!!!!!
And all those clothes they packed... and trunks full of money for ol' Thurston... for a three hour tour. What I found amazing about the show was that the Professor could even make a robot out of coconuts yet he could never patch up the 2 foot hole the SS Minnow had .

I felt the same way, first thought was about all those who just lost their jobs, losing benefits, losing family, etc. They're not the first rich people of any gender to spend excessive amounts of money for a thrill, but the times we're going through right now make reactions worse, in my mind anyway.I'm all for women's empowerment but I turned on CBS news this morning and the entire segment was about Gayle King, Katie Perry and other wealthy women going into space. I just felt this was tone deaf considering the suffering many are going through in this country. What say you?

Good points, Dave. If Gayle is anything like her bestie, Oprah, she has given tons to charity. Also, as far as everyone saying 'how dare they, when the world is suffering'... how do you know these people don't donate millions to various causes? Because they don't announce it publicly?
In my younger days there was a saying......I’m glad somebody gets my point. Calling the people who ride in that spacecraft astronauts is simple theft of valor.
