Cooking with Parchment Paper in your Fry Plan

Has anyone ever put a piece of parchment paper on the bottom of your fry pan and then cooked on it. I’ve seen grill cheese done this way.

I don’t know what temperature my frying pan is. The maximum is 420 degrees for most paper that’s rated. Some are as high as 500 degrees. The Kirkland brand seems to be 425.

  • If you use parchment paper in a skillet, ensure it's properly trimmed to avoid overhang and potential fire hazards.

We’ve purchased liners for our ninja air fryer.
We bought them at dollarama. They have holes in them for the fat to drip down them.
I’d take a picture for you but we are out at the moment. Do you have a dollarama where you live Jules? I’d wait and get something specifically made for an air fryer just to be on the safe side.

I found a big difference between cheap parchment paper/liners and industry drade. A bit more pricey but a totally different product. The same sheet will go for ten sets of snicker poodles while the cheap stuff is done at three. Try it yourself.
We also use parchment paper for grill packages of vegetables and various meats. the cheap stuff will not hold up.

@PeppermintPatty, thanks, I don’t need paper for my air fryer. Cooking a grilled cheese in an AF seems like a waste of time. I can do them in a fry pan with no mess in 3 or 4 minutes. I was just intrigued by thought of using parchment paper as a liner in a fry pan if making a special, gooey sandwich.

I have seen parchment paper used as a liner in a George Foreman type grill too.

When my oven was a little too hot, I noticed the paper might start to brown up on the edges at the end. I avoid that now.

I’m sorry. I misunderstood ( forgot ) what you were using it for. Now that you repeatedly explained, I realize I read it but it didn’t quite stick. lol. I swear I’m getting early dementia.
Wouldn’t the parchment paper stop the fryer from browning the butter properly? That cooked buttered bread is half the joy of having a grilled cheese.

LOL, you’ll never convince my husband about the butter. He doesn’t eat it or any other grease. I just do his beside mine in the pan. It toasts fine. I’ve been thinking about all the discussion about non-stick fry pans. If the parchment paper were safer than direct contact, I’d use it.

Yes, I have. Just recently on the FoodNetwork/the Kitchen they did this. If I remember correctly, they were frying a piece of salmon, and to keep the skin from sticking to the pan...they laid the parchment paper down first. It worked.

I recently bought some self - bakery Air Fryer Parchment Paper. It's the small round ones and fits neatly into my air fryer. I have heated frozen Chips in mine and cook sweet potatoes as well. I just cut the sweet potato in half and poke the fork into it and lightly coat with Olive Oil.
They only take a few minutes and are delicious. Good for cooking sausages as all the fat comes out.

I think the paper would be fine but I’m wondering if the paper would interfere with the toasting of the bread. 🤔

I would stick with what I know and resign myself to having a pan to wash.

I enjoy grilled cheese style sandwiches but these days I usually toast the bread and zap the sandwich or the filling in the microwave for a few seconds to melt the cheese.
