I didn't much care for JP's "By Any Other Name" either. I've enjoyed some of her books, but getting through that one became an endurance test.
I've always avoided reading her books. Her name. Don't like her name. Dumb reason? Maybe. Hopefully I never read a book of hers again.
Am very Anti anti-Stratfordian. I seriously studied this shit. Went to Oxford and everything. :ROFLMAO:
The only thing I can find to like about author is that she's from New Hampshire.

Goodness, what a morning! It's a beautiful day with lots of sunshine and warm temps. Yay!

DD and I went to the garden centers before the rooster was awake, and they actually had the bedding plants that we both still needed. Woohoo! We got our plants.

When we got home, there were dead tree limbs that have been needing to be cut down. I pointed them out, DD used the limb lopper and got them down. I'm in charge of cutting them up and getting them into the trash cans. Some are done, but I needed to take a break.

All the flowers have been planted, and that means it's done! That is, the planting part is done; most of the weeding is still waiting. Now that the planting has been accomplished, the rest of the !#$%&*! can be addressed. But not today.

There must be a reasonable explanation for weeds. Anybody know what it might be?

Good Friday. When I was a kid, everything closed from 12-3. Everything. Retail, grocery, banks. The only things open were churches and hospitals. Times have changed.
When I was a kid NOTHING opened on Good Friday, or Easter Sunday..except churches and hotel bars... Pubs weren't allowed to open at all either..

  • Solid 8 hour+ sleep after many hours yesterday manual HTML coding for a new photo page on my website for wildflower field work from 10 days ago.
  • Did a final page check for spelling and grammar by dumping it into MS Word.
  • Then uploaded all those new website files via my web hosting service and checked it all ran ok.
  • Did a couple loads of laundry.
  • Went down to our big Santa Clara KP hospital for a bi-monthly blood test for my polycythemia vera neoplasm condition that looked fine. Also had extra blood tests as preparation for my upcoming inguinal hernia surgery that also looked fine. Seems all the extra salt I put on food has no consequence as sodium, chloride, and potassium levels are all normal.
  • And had a quick EKG done also for the surgery.
  • Stopped on the drive home at Walmart Neighborhood Market for more food stuff. My fridge and kitchen food cabinets are quite full that ought last 2 or 3 weeks.

G,morning folks... a little bit overcast and breezy .. temps lower at 55 deg...

That Darned Cat made me get up at 5:30. I didn't wanna, but I did🥱.

It's going to be a perfectly glorious day here. Temp pushing 90 with plenty of sunshine. Ditto tomorrow.

My plans for today?
*Cut up the rest of yesterday's branches and dispose of them.
*Weed. Ugh. Weed. I wish the weeding fairy would show up.
*I got recruited to make DGD's favorite potato casserole for tomorrow's dinner. I'm gonna do it, but I'm also going to print out the recipe and give it to her. She can make it on the next special occasion.
*Make deviled eggs for tomorrow's dinner.
*Nap.

The older I get, the less I want to be bothered with doing anything that requires any effort, unless it's playing in the dirt (excluding weeding!).

So far I've emptied the litter box, done some weeding, pounded fertilizer sticks into the dirt for some shrubs, watered the flowers and filled the birdbaths, put the eggs on to boil.

I M Xosted so going to rest a bit and watch old episodes of Murder, She Wrote.

ETA: And I cut up the rest of the branches and trashed them and raked up some messes that I've left all week. That was hard work!

I decided to do some yard work. A lot of leaves get blown against the house foundation and held there by plants. It was a mild morning and the leaves were dry, so I wanted to get it done before the predicted rain gets here. I had bought a box of five 30-gallon trash bags and through that was overkill expecting to use 2 at the most. Well, I ended up filling 4 of them! It took about an hour and a half.

I also swept the front porch. I am exhausted.

Good morning SFers! Easter Eve.... We'd planned to take TGS so DS & DDIL can prep for tomorrow's festivities, but I just called DS and offered to also take the baby. Whether we're biting off more than we can comfortably chew remains to be seen. o_O I'll report back on that.

On the other hand, five days a week while DH was working, I solely wrangled three kids more closely spaced than those two are, plus ran a household. My kiddos and I not only survived, we've remained on very good terms. Granted, I was 40 years younger when raising them, but today I'll have the advantage of DH being here and there's nothing else on today's schedule.

It's supposed to be a beautiful day so I foresee plenty of outdoor time today.

Hope all have a lovely, fun-filled day!

Well the clouds disappeared and it has been another beautiful sunny day... albeit breezy,....

I bought 2 kilos of potatoes ( 4.5pounds)... for just 8p the other day , the supermarkets sell so many vegetables over the holidays for a standard price of just 8p... the potatoes would normally cost around £2... for the 2kg bag.. I don't buy the fresh veggies because I have a freezer full of frozen green veggies

I don't usually buy potatoes now there's only me to cook for unless I'm batch cooking, and adding potatoes to the dish... however at 8p for 4 and a half pounds I didn't pass it up..so today I cooked half of them, and made enough for a tub of Potato and mayo salad... and 4 good portions of mashed potatoes to freeze..

well..3 because I used one portion to eat late lunch, of German baked ham, and beans..

..so for 8p... I still have a kilo of potatoes to use ... 3 servings of cooked mash to freeze, and a tub of Potato salad.. bargain !!

I see so many items on Amazon for lower prices of things I order but just do not need them at this time. My house would look like a warehouse of products just for the savings. Hopefully I can get a few before the price goes up again.

hollydolly, you do so well with the items you buy. I wish I had your ambitious way of cooking.

Oh Rae..I'm not really an amibitious cook... @StarSong is the one for that... and in truth I despise cooking, I don't enjoy it, but since my Soon2BX left, I had no-one else to cook for and I lost the impetus to make cook for myself for about a year.. .. ..once I'd risen from the depth of a deep depression, I knew I had to start looking after myself again.. so I started batch cooking.., which means only roughly once a month I spend a day cooking for the freezer, all portioned up individually and that gives me meals for the next month..
