I have returned from two weeks touring the southwest of our state. From Pemberton to Dryandra woodlands.
What stood out the most was the amount of tailgating and speeding.
On the way to Dryandra, narrow roads, 100km speed limit, no passing bays on the Pinjarra - Williams road, too many drivers were tailgating me because I was doing the speed limit.
Many times I would pull off the road to take a photograph. Cars would go past, at or above the speed limit, with a tailgater within three or four car lengths.
The tailgaters show a level of arrogance which says, rules do not concern me, I will do as I like and the rest of you can get out of my way.
With all the roadworks occurring down south, will this lead to more people speeding and thus a rise in the road toll?

Glad you made it back safely Bretrick!

My son hired an Uber car for me to get into Sydney - 20ks to be exact. It was the Easter long weekend. Just in that journey we saw 3 accidents on the highway. The driver said you can see that all the time, people tailgating, going above the speed limit and not letting traffic in on the merge
lane. Thank goodness I don't drive into the city anymore, would rather take the train.

I think it's a common problem everywhere -- speeding, tailgating. Lots of people in a hurry to go nowhere.
I was like that - Hurrying here and there.
One day I stop and asked myself, Why am I hurrying,I seem to be in a hurry to go nowhere.
When I realised that, I slowed down. No need to run to catch the train, there is another one in 15 minutes.

isn;t sudden death first stop off??
Not sure what you mean by that, but I'd say that people who speed and tailgate believe they're better drivers than they really are. I'm aware enough of my own skills to know that even though I'm a motorcyclist and practice MAJOR defensive driving skills, I don't hotdog and I stay in my own skill set. I have nothing to prove to anybody, including myself.
