There's a new "Fluff Butt" in town!

Goober went for a boat ride yesterday!!! LOL

He was a little nervous at first. But Dio kept on talking calmly to him and petting him. After a few minutes, Goober relaxed and started looking around.

He is such a great companion...loves to be involved with everything we do! 💕
Give it a bit and he will outfish Dio!

Goober has started shedding for the first time. I'm expecting it to be quite the experience....for both of us!

I was a bit excited yesterday when Goober went for his first Vet check up. I had filled out his paperwork, stating that he was a "seal point", because that is what was on the paperwork from the place where I got him. As soon as the Vet walked in, the first thing she said was "Oh, it looks like we'll have to update your paperwork to list you as a Ragdoll!"

So, even though I've been calling Goob a Ragdoll, it's now been confirmed!

I had to look up ragdoll cat. I hadn’t heard of it beforehand . Theres a lot of new things I’m learning from coming to this forum. We
used to have Siamese cats when we were young. We had 3 seal points and one lilac point. They were all very nice cats.

There was some excitement here yesterday, if that is what you want to call it. Apparently, Goober had an allergic reaction to his shots. He was in pretty bad shape.

I worked with the Vet, over the phone. She asked me what kind of allergy medicine I had at home. I had 3 different ones, and read them off to her. She looked up each one online. She then told me which one to cut in half and to give it to him. After Dio got the 1/2 pill down him, Goober slept for 2 hours.

When he woke up, Goob actually got up and checked out the field (where he hunts), with his ears up! That is the first time that he looked alert, since getting his shots. It didn't last long, but it was a step in the right direction.

This morning, I am happy to report that he seems fine. We went for a walk, he ran around and played. Then he ate a good amount of his breakfast. He's back to being Goober again!

Right now, he is out terrorizing the chipmunks.
....or are they terrorizing him?!

I'm glad he is feeling better.

I had a little female cat who had to have a benedryl shot from the vet before she got her yearly shots. Her problem didn't start until she was about 2 or 3 years old. Just like people, they can develop reactions to a shots that hadn't bothered them before.

Also, I had another little female cat who was a great huntress. She terrorized the chipmunks at our place & were her favorite things to snack on.

I had never heard of a Ragdoll either! Thanks to @Murrmurr , I started to look into them along with other "point" breeds.

From my (lmited) research, I had decided that he was a Ragdoll. I'm really happy that the Vet has him listed on his paperwork as a Ragdoll! 😁

@Trila

Hi Trila. This is my Ragdoll cat, Finnian.

Finnian.jpg

Your Goober is what's called a Dark-Nosed Ragdoll. Finnian's vet told me they used to call them Black-Faced, but that got controversial, so they changed it to Black-Nosed, then after Ragdoll became an official breed, the breeders association changed it again.

About 4 years ago, after my older cat, Buddy, died, Finn went into my closet and wouldn't come out. I kept picking him up and bringing him out, but he just ran right back in there. After several days of that, I put his litterbox in there and took his food and water to him (he wasn't eating much), and my cousin visited one day and said I shouldn't do that. She said Finnian was depressed, and she offered to take him to her farm to be a barn cat...she had several cats already, being barn cats.

So, I let her take him. He's still there, happy as can be. My cousin said he's too pretty to sleep in the barn, though. He sleeps in the house with her. I guess he needed a change of environment, one that didn't remind him of his ol' pal, Buddy.

He's beautiful! I'm so glad that he is happy again!

I have a hard time getting Goober's picture, because he keeps following me and is too close. By luck, I just got this one.....

No matter what I say, the people in my other forum keep on thinking that he is long haired and fluffy. I finally got a shot to show them that he is short haired-is and thin! LOL

BTW: if you can get a good look at Goober's black markins, you can see that he has an "Angel Face!"

Thanks again, for your input and for sharing! 💕

Yeah, affection is their 2nd-most famous characteristic, most famous being their tendency to go limp when you pick them up (like a ragdoll).
