Carnage At a Vancouver BC Street Festival

A few important points to add about this tragic event. The event was just about over, and many of the booths on the street were bring dis-mantled, and the city garbage trucks, that had been positioned to close off the streets in the area, were now being used to collect the garbage. This allowed the subject vehicle to enter the previously closed off section of the street. The driver was pulled from the vehicle by bystanders, and held until Police could arrive, which was only a matter of 3 minutes. Vancouver Police Chief states that the driver is " known to Police " which means he has a previous criminal record of some sort. JIM.

What a dismal situation. Someone does it in North Carolina some years back, and now somebody copycats it in the largest city in the province I live in. Disgusting.😠
It's happened more recently as well, as in New Orleans this past New Year's Eve/Day.

I'm glad they held him down. And, if driving an SUV into a crowd isn't terrorism, IDK what is?
The Vancouver Police are investigating this incident. The Chief of Police In Vancouver stated that this person had no political motive, nor were they a member of any known "terrorist organization". I take that to mean the reason WHY this happened is not YET clear. Instead of saying "Its terror " could you perhaps think about ...He was drunk, and or high on drugs? JIM.

Apparently he was no stranger to the police.

With this happening so often .
They should 'learn from it'
And put those huge concrete bolsters.on the street
..at points..of vunerablity!šŸ˜‰

It's looking like from what I've read, this was truly a copycat and the driver is mentally ill.

The North Carolina vehicular attack was jihad motivated as are most European and Israeli vehicular attacks.

2014 Slate article written when vehicles started becoming a popular terrorist weapon and were encouraged online by Muslim extremists.

Why Terrorists Use Vehicles as Weapons

The article recommends that practitioners take care to gather enough speed to ā€œachieve maximum carnageā€ once crowds begin to scatter, and to choose their targets carefully. ā€œIf you can get through to ā€˜pedestrian only’ locations that exist in some downtown (city center) areas, that would be fabulous,ā€ the author, editor-in-chief Yahya Ibrahim, writes.

After hearing the police speak today and reading online, it became slightly more clear. The event was held in a school ground and only one short street was used for the food trucks. The event was over and the barricades were being opened to let them clean up.

The suspect had a history of many mental health incidents with the police.

This goes back to horse and buggy.

Yup. I smell an NCR verdict when his trial's done.
Family members of the dead & the dozens of injured people will not only suffer the event itself but they'll also get the hard pill of an NCR trial result to swallow
Happened with Vince Li; the guy who beheaded a stranger on a bus outside of Winnipeg in 2008?
NCR result after his trial. Justice system kicked him loose 4 years later declaring him "cured". Defies logic!
