What Are You Passionate About?

Someone on another thread gave the very good advice, "Find your passion," which begs the question: What is your passion?

I am deeply interested in a few things, but my passion, the thing that takes me out of myself and refocuses all my energies, is horses, the company of horses and caring for them. Unfortunately, we don't have a car at present so I can't get to the farm to volunteer.

We'll be getting a car later this year, though, and I do plan on going back then. Really looking forward to that.

I think if I could simply, "make it so," my life would be that of a horse-care-taking Virologist.

Our precious, awesome 4.5 billion year old planet Earth and its incredible evolved vast range of life. I see we intelligent technological era, overpopulating, Earth monkey creatures as serious damaging factors to Earth and its fragile interconnected life, primarily because civilization, especially for many effectively isolated humans living in urban regions with wealth and materialistic orientations, disconnects most of us from our native relationships with Earth and its life. If there is one thing this relative peon will have an impact on within my limited remaining years, it will be to help re-awaken the value of this with others via exhibiting my lifelong body of work in photography.

I am also passionate about regularly enjoying myself having fun in a range of outdoor activities.

Dancing has been a lifelong pleasure, whether it's a passion or not I couldn't say. Much as I love modern dancing, that's the generic term for Latin and Ballroom, could I live without it? Certainly can. My lady's heart surgery has curtailed our dancing, but we still enjoy the socialising aspect of dance.
When younger we would rehearse and rehearse until we had a routine step and timing perfect, so you could say that was a passion. Offbeat dances were also fun, they didn't have the strict rigidity of Modern Dance. We even managed to choreograph gymnastic lifts and spins into rock & roll style jive. Such dance moves always made this kind of impression.
Today though, I just give thanks that my wife is managing to recover, albeit slowly.

I've read that blog blurb. It sounds like you and your wife make quite an impression! I know you always look amazing; I've seen pictures of the result of your wife's talent with sewing/creating. :)

When I think of being passionate about something, what first comes to my mind are people who volunteer for causes like Meals On Wheels, rescue animals, or even hobbies they do on a regular basis for self-fulfillment, like restoring old cars, or painting (as in art).

Unfortunately, I can't claim any of that, but my career was in accounting, so I still enjoy working with numbers any way I can, budgets, and ways to maneuver my finances, especially when changing any kind of insurance or contracts I have in place. I also keep a daily journal and condense it monthly into an ongoing autobiography which I'm leaving behind for my family. I try my hand at some other kinds of writing as well, but only for personal fulfillment. I like collecting and watching old movies.

I like numbers too, and chess, though I can't claim to be adept at either. Weird isn't it? You'd think that if a person is drawn to something, really enjoys it, they'd naturally be good at it. Not always so, apparently.

Creating a written legacy for your children and their children seems a very worthwhile endeavor. Have you ever watched, The Big Bang Theory? Witness the extremely intelligent Sheldon's deep love of writing contracts. :)

#1 pets. #2 any kind of art, from sewing to painting to photography.

I used to have a passion for writing, even majored in comm studies and did a number of newsletters, blogs, and articles both for work and personal enjoyment. But I completely lost the desire when my dad passed in 2022. Not sure what happened.

At least I still enjoy crafts and recently got back into painting.

My passions are extensive. My most favourite passion is taking our dogs for a walk. I truly enjoy watching our dogs having fun. They stop to smell things along the way. While watching them, I also take photos of them and my husband so photography is another passion I have. I usually take photos of the places we walk. Often I see wild animals like eagles & foxes.

Music is another passion of mine. I enjoy singing and playing saxophone as well as keyboards. Sometimes I record my music on Smule. I’m very shy about sharing my music so don’t do it that often.

Another passion of mine is painting with watercolours. I enjoy painting pictures and giving them away to others. Most times it’s sent with a poem that’s very personal to the person it’s sent to.

I’ve got many passions. Another one is cooking and baking. Every year I bake and decorate hundreds of cookies and give them away. Most of them are gingerbreads. My family and friends look forward to getting them.

You are such a wonderfully creative person, Patty. ā¤ļø
That painting is truly pretty (I would hang that in my house) and those cookies look delicious!

My passion was medicine...people and animals. I spent my adult years till recently rescuing cats anf dogs through my own efforts or through working with my vet or the SPCA locally. For people the same, but on a paramedic level through a rescue squad.

I also love to paint mostly watercolors and pencil art. Then there is the spinning and knitting...

My greatest passion in life has always been writing. For years I made a sort of living from it. I stopped around 5 years ago, when I was doing my blog (marcyswordpress.com), fiddling around with a sentence, and suddenly felt, "This is too damn hard for too little reward!" and that was it. I actually don't miss it.

Another passion is music, but unfortunately I don't know how to play any instrument; however, 2 years ago I discovered a piano bar not too far away where anyone can grab a mic and sing along with the piano. The people are very supportive and tolerant, even tho many of them are at a near pro level. Which I am decidedly not. I couldn't live without music.
