Reflections of My Life

I have had a strange day today. It wasn't good nor bad. Just did my routine household chores. Took my garbage out to the dumpster but did not stay out long. I did not feel as if I could walk far so came back in. Then a little later my package was delivered and I went down and got that. On the way back I walked one lap around my hallway. I am trying to do that daily. At least one lap. But hopefully I will be able to increase it.

It is funny how a little thing can make your day. I was reading the thread on here about senior helpers. @Rossana mentioned the Pilot Dr. Grip pen she uses. I write a lot and have so much trouble with cheap pens. They don't write until you scribble with them first. I used to have beautiful writing and would receive compliments about it. Now..........not at all! I ordered the pen and got it yesterday. I LOVE it! Easy to hold and writes instantly. No scribbling to make it write. Thank you Rossana for that tip!

Last night almost as soon as I got off the computer I had a storm. Raining, windy, thunder and lightning. A lot of it. I unplugged all my electronics. No watching videos but it didn't matter because I was tired. Fell asleep then the storm stopped and Jeff (my son) was at my door. Wanted to know if I was okay. I was almost asleep again..........then Sonny is calling me. Hard to get any sleep around here! Just kidding. I am thankful I have some one checks on me.

Sonny calls me all day long so he wasn't really checking on me. I think he can't stand being alone and not having someone on the phone. I have been on the phone with him as much as FIVE HOURS! Which for me (who is NOT a phone person) is a lot.

This morning I took a walk to the park across the street. It felt so good to be outside in the sunshine. I needed new pictures for my blog so got a lot of those. It is just so peaceful out there.........until the city worker started his mowing machine! 🙂 Didn't really bother me. That is the city for you. Spring flowers were up. Mostly tulips but they were in all different colors. You know color is my thing. So I appreciate whatever colors they are.

Then I came back home and paid some bills and had blueberry pie keto ice cream for my first meal of the day. I call it the first meal of the day because I can never decide if it is breakfast or lunch. Brunch sounds too snobby for me. Started working on editing the photos and then found some from a few days ago I took in the kitchen and of Rabbit that needed editing also. Cage is cleaned and I am thinking about my food for the rest of the day.

Since I only had the KC ice cream I need much more and I am not hungry at all. It is crazy. They keep telling me I need more fat and protein. I am not eating enough. This Lymphedema drives me nuts. You know it is a lifetime thing. You never get over it or cure it. Just live with it and try to keep it from getting worse. Movement is the #1 thing to do. Keto lifestyle which includes supplementing with electrolytes is the next thing. Doing that.

Following keto though makes it so you are barely hungry. I have started planning a meal for certain times and even if I am not hungry I start preparing it anyway. Sometimes the smell will make me hungry. Or the first bite........I admit I am a good cook so my food is never boring or tasteless.

Today is my errand day.........can you tell I am not excited about it? I never am. Probably because there are so many people out doing their errands too. Especially shopping. Since it is a Friday, Sonny won't be picking me up till after noon. His aide comes on Tuesday and Friday, so have to wait till she leaves before he drives here. He lives about 25 miles away so it takes a bit. Plus he is so slow to get going. That means I will get my walking done at Walmart.

Have you ever noticed how many videos on YT are about aging? Maybe it is just in my feed because I watch some people who are around my age. Lately they have shown celebrities who have aged "terribly" and I resisted watching them. Now they have titles that made me look at them. Well the ones who actually aged badly were the ones who had plastic surgery and other treatments. Why would they do that after seeing how some others look? The natural ones look good, at least to me they do.

I learned long ago that pretty faces and perfect bodies means nothing. Most of the time those people have no personality. It can apply to anything..........a pretty place, a pretty car, a pretty house...........yet they are pretty much flawed. The pretty car breaks down all the time or is uncomfortable to ride in or drive. The pretty house does not last. Too many repairs or other problems. A pretty place has more natural disasters or miserable living conditions. I like regular people. Maybe handsome men taught me that lesson in my life. Too much ego! (I don't mean anything against men by saying that)

Have you noticed that Friday seems as busy as Saturday now? I think more people must work a four day week now!

My plan is to take it easy today. Doing some little things in the kitchen. Nothing too strenuous.

Yesterday when I was on my way downstairs to leave with Sonny the elevator refused to go to the Lower Level. So I called him on my phone to tell him I was on the first floor. He came up on the elevator and then played with the buttons a bit and he got it going. On the way up the ramp, the maintenance man (Randy) appeared and I told him what happened. He told me that happened to him too. He said to wait to press the button till the door closes. So when I came back I did that and had no more problems. He did say we are supposed to be getting a new switch.

The manager has not been here or in contact with anyone since about two weeks ago. Rents are due right now. I do not like to leave mine and Jeff's in the box outside the office. Does not feel safe to me. And I want receipts. People keep coming to me asking if I have heard anything about her or what we are supposed to do. Some were in the process of recertification and one lady had moved from the first floor to the 3rd and still doesn't have all her paperwork finished. Nor knows how much her rent is!

Jeff was supposed to have his new lease and amount on April first and still doesn't have it. Mine will be due on June first. I wish at least the owners (Bryten Real Estate Partners) would contact us and let us know what is happening. Even Randy didn't know. I suppose someone will come for the rents.

thanks Jim...I've lost complete track since I've had the MAC for many years now... having said that..I just realised I bought a new laptop a few months ago which uses windows...altho' I haven't used it yet, ..I could have checked on there.. but thanks anyway
Your welcome! I have 2 Windows desktops that I built over the years, but I use my iPad mostly.

That's amazing that they haven't even posted a sign or sent out letters to all of the tenants, regarding dates and hours when someone will be there, for all of the rent issues. That is terrible imo.🤔🤨😒🙄

I also hope they'll get the elevator working better.

Yet I hope you will have a relaxing and stress free weekend!😉😊😄😁🥰🥰🥰

It is strange considering all the tenants here are either elderly or disabled. That means little things upset our routines. They really should have a back up manager or someone to cover for her when she cannot come to do her job. I think this is really an unacceptable way to manage an apartment building.

Now the elevator............last night when I came back in I pushed the button and it took me to my floor. No problem. I heard people using it all night and again this morning. So I ordered Jeff's groceries and when I got in I saw someone must have gotten mad at it and broke that LL button right out. Pieces of it were on the floor!

There was a note from Randy taped to that spot near the buttons telling us that someone had broke the button to the LL and he ordered a new switch and the guy is coming Monday to fix it. I am able to go down to the 1st floor but not to the LL where I have to go to get outside (but I will not be leaving my floor till Monday).

Great post! I also noticed lots of YT videos about weight loss (just before the summer hits). I also have noticed the same thing about the celebrities. What gets to me is some of them continue to be in movies, but they look so different at this later age, and the romantic image I used to have of them (particularly men) goes out the door. Think Robert Redford, for example.

I bet they hate those videos showing how they look now. Of course as we age we look different. Plastic surgery does not improve their looks one bit. Have you seen Madonna lately? I would not recognize her if I hadn't seen her on one of the videos.

I like watching some of the female stars as they have gotten older. Shirley MacClaine, Cybil Shepherd, Annette Benning and a bunch of others. Those movies I will watch over and over. I think it is because they portray older women in strong roles. It used to be the best movies had real young stars and the older woman would have a smaller role. Not that important. Now our generation has moved on from trying to look and act young. I am proud to be the woman I am now.

The apartment next to me has been fighting with each other all day long. I guess it doesn't really bother me as long as they don't kill anyone. I hate to sound my age, but that is what happens when younger people move in. They are living with the guy's mother in a one bedroom apartment. Maybe it is too small for them and they get on each other's nerves.

They are allowed to move in there with her?
Not to sound my age, or too nosey or that I've got nothing else to do, Or that it's my business what they do..... 😁 :giggle: 😄 :sneaky::cool:

They should not have been allowed but the manager allowed it. There are more than a few people not happy about them being there. And now the manager is not coming to work so we have nobody to complain to. If they get too loud, the guy across the hall will probably call the police.

MANY of these managers be it management companies or individuals are money thrown away as residents in one way or another wind up doing what these useless managers are getting paid to do .

This has been my experience .
