How long does one have to be a member here before loosing the "new member" badge?

It's based on post count only. I think it's 100 posts.

Yes, 100 posts, as Matrix said. You can be here for 5 years and if you don't have 100, it will still show as "new member." You joined 2.5 years ago, but have only 20 posts, so "new member."
