Weight watchers files for bankruptcy

Even with medication you need to modify eating habits. I'm on one of these, though mainly for Type 2 Diabetes. It isn't changing me overnight.

Sounds like an excuse to me. They probably don't want to admit people are spending less on things like club memberships in general.

Medication, and surgery. The alternatives are more commonly used, and require less effort (which, sadly, is a plus in today's world). The move to the internet hurt them big time too.

Obesity isn't going anywhere, though.

Yo Mama so fat, when she gets a headache she puts mayonnaise on the aspirin.

It used to be called a 'Jumpoline' until Yo Mama tried one out...then it became known as the 'Trampoline"!

I have a friend who loved WW and lost weight with them. So I wanted to give them a try, I liked the idea of group support and thought the meetings would be a way to meet people in my new town. Their meetings were either 6 am or 6 pm not the morning or afternoon meetings i was looking for. Then I tried them online and found their Point System maddening. It's hard enough to count calories, but counting fats, meats, carbs, all at once made it impossible to keep track of all the numbers when eating out.

I'll give them credit for educating and providing support to lots of people way back when people were just starting to learn that pleasingly plump was not such a healthy thing.

Fast Food and Big Gulps. Thas what's wrong in Merica! ... :coffee: ...
Of course, having good teeth / False / Partials & no pain makes
a huge fatso population.

Weight loss drugs have been around as long as I can remember, but Weight Watchers was still a standby for many. I'm going to guess that these new drugs actually work. It's possible they are just an over hyped fad, I guess. I haven't heard anything about how effective they are, or if they have side effects.

Anybody?

they do work...they work waaayyy too well.. and too fast... the nickname now for people are Ozempic face, because it gives such a fast weight loss the face around the lips actually tilt a little bit... and if you actually look at celebrities who have lst weight on these latest sliimming drugs, their faces all look the same..

I do believe the meds cost quite a bit per month and you have to stay on them or the weight will go back on immediately...

Weight loss drugs: here are some of the side effects: pancreatitis, low blood sugar, thyroid tumors, vision changes, kidney damage, severe stomach problems, gallbladder problems. If I had diabetes and there was no other option, then I would use this drug under very careful supervision of my doctor. People who use it for weight loss use it possibly because they don’t want to make changes in their eating habits . We are meant to eat healthy and exercise. but I am not going to judge anyone if they are unable to do this. I am afraid to even think of the long term effects as this is still a relatively new drug.

I agree. I just think people have jumped straight on these drugs way to quickly, I can't see that there won't be some horrible side effect somewhere along the road...

Any fast weight loss shows in face and breasts first.

from what I have seen they work for some people and not so much for others

But you do still have to change your lifestyle too, they are not magic.

This seems to be contrary to “Make a (diet/exercise) plan you can live with”. If it is too time consuming or inconvenient (or miserable), you just can’t stick with it.

It keeps you so busy that you do not have time to eat.

A 28 day supply of Mounjaro cost me $1044.60, less than what I was expecting.

Since I am taking it for Type 2 diabetes, my insurance covered $783.45 and Medicare covered another $231.15. That left me $30.00 out of pocket.

I saw the Doc, and he didn't think I had nasty symptoms. The "second course" is at twice the dosage, but I still paid $30 out of pocket. After that he's prescribed another 50% increase in dosage, and I expect the same copay.

After these 8 weeks I'll go see him again.
