Who was your favourite Dr. Who actor

So hubby and I have only recently been watching Dr. Who, so there may have been some amazing actors that we did not have an opportunity to watch. The shows with David Tennant, that's when we started to watch. I personally love Matt Smith as Dr. Who. Hubby prefers David Tennant. How about you guys?

Jon Pertwee was my Era... the thing about DR who is if you grew up with it..( it started in 1963) is usually the DR you would prefer.

William Hartnell was the first Doctor when I was 8, but he was very old and it in B&W so it didn't appeal to an 8 year old... but by the time Jon Petwee came along in 1970 , we were well into it..

When you say "recently," do you mean this is your first time watching Doctor Who, or had you seen any of the older episodes in the distant past as well?

Of the two actors you mentioned, I preferred David Tennant, though that’s not to say I have anything against Matt Smith. They each bring a different energy and personality to the role, which I think fits perfectly with the nature of the Doctor. After all, with each regeneration, the Doctor comes back with a new face and a new personality, so that variation feels right to me.

David Tennant definitely became a fan favourite, and I think it’s easy to see why. That said, I grew up with Tom Baker in the classic era -- or at least the repeats. Along scarf, wild eyes, a completely different vibe, but iconic in his own way. He was the Doctor to me for many years.

No we have not seen any of the episodes before David Tennant.

One of my favourite scenes is when the Doctor, David Tennant, is having a conversation via a recording on a laptop screen from 1969 to two people in the present day, warning about the stone angels. I always call it the "Don't blink" scene.

It's so cleverly done, but a bit creepy towards the end of the scene. Then even more creepy in the following scene, as they go looking for the Tardis with the stone angels chasing them.

Watch it if you like -- but don't blink!

I've only watched two Doctor Who actors. Before this new one, I hadn't watched the series since it originally aired. I like the newest doctor best out of the two because I absolutely love his energy! It pops out all over the place.

No one. As much as I love watching British TV shows, both drama and comedies, I have never liked Dr. Who. For a long time I never liked British science fiction. Then one day I saw, Village of the Damned (1960 version) and I loved it. Since then I have seen Children of the Damned, The Creeping Unknown (aka The Quartermass Xperiment), The Crawling Eye (aka The Trollenberg Terror), and The Day of the Triffids.

Fave original era - I started watching when John Pertwee was The Doctor and loved it. Then Tom Baker came along and blew me away! So different - fantastic.

After him it just wasn't the same. Then came the big gap until Christopher Eccleston came along with a very tough call to ressurect the series. And he nailed it. So sad he only did one season! David Tennant and Matt Smith next were excellent - and there's been nothing to match them since.

I persevered with the next couple that were watchable despite a few very poorly writen episodes. Then we come up to date with Ncuti Gatwa - who showed real promise early on but alas - despite the return of Russell T Davies has descended into something I just don't enjoy watching. After over 50 years as a Dr Who fan I fear my time is now done :(

It's been a while since I've watched, but David Tennant was my favorite Doctor.
I also liked the interaction between him and Billie Piper.
that was the shame of it for me. I thought David Tennant was proably the best overall DR Who ever.... unfortunately it was spoiled for a lot of people by the addition of Billie Piper

Oh, I loved, loved the Stone Angels episode. I think now that you mention it, it is my favourite episode.

Sarah jane was the companion of DR Who (3) ( Jon Pertwee)..then she continued as Tom Bakers' companion... as the 4th Doctor...

Most Brits hate the new Woke DR Who series of the last few years and viewing figures are at an all time low
I am not crazy about the new guy because, he doesn't have the Dr. Who persona. He's actually acts dumb. He never knows what to do, actually asks other characters what to do in a situation, and too much hugging and grinning for me.

I made a mistake in my first reply. The only time I watched, besides the newest seasons, is when Tom Baker played the doctor. He was the 4th, not the 1st Doctor. The newest Doctor is played by Ncuti Gatwa...so cute!

It's been announced that the most recent Dr Who actor has been axed from the series... , Ncuti Gatwa had been sacked after just 2 series.. because of the lowest Viewing figures ever in DR Who History. Personally I'm not surprised, as an actor he is awful

Ncuti Gatwa has been axed as Doctor Who after just two series as woke storylines saw ratings for the much-loved show fall through the floor, it was claimed today.

The BBC programme is also said to have been paused for an extended break amid criticism about plots about non-binary aliens and incels.

Fans of the show have also lamented some of the programme’s best loved villains being given ‘woke’ facelifts.

Ncuti’s Doctor Who was watched by around 2.5milion last Saturday - around 2million fewer people than the numbers watching when Jodie Whittaker, the previous Time Lord, was on the show until 2022.

But this is still a tiny fraction of the sort of numbers it used to attract. At its peak it was watched by around 13million in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.

It came after Gatwa’s withdrawal from presenting the UK’s Eurovision jury scores on Saturday night after Israel made the final. Gatwa has previously been vocal in his support for Palestine.

The current Doctor Who is yet to comment but the BBC has said that claims he has already been axed are 'pure speculation' and that no decision has been made.

There have also been rumours Mr Gatwa was planning to walk away himself and concentrate on breaking Hollywood.

There was some anger as the announcement Rwandan-Scottish actor Ncuti had withdrawn from presenting Eurovision came moments after Israel's Yuval Raphael - a survivor of the October 7 attacks - qualified for the final with her song New Day Will Rise. She ended up finishing second to Austria last Saturday. Sophie Ellis-Bextor stepped in for him.

A TV insider reportedly said: 'If the final nail wasn't already in the coffin, it was well and truly hammered in after that.
