What have you bought recently?

I have gone back and forth on different security systems for the barn and the workshop since husband passed last year. I look at products until my eyeballs hurt.

WiFi is a joke where I live, so it has to be something that fully grasps the words “remote living”.

I finally went with a model sold by VOSKER.

Thanks to three doozy concussions, I now have UP vertigo and DOWN vertigo but I have learned to manage them with the help of my chiropractor. Meaning, I will ask my tech savvy neighbor to install the camera at a height I can easily reach from a four foot step ladder.

The guy at Vosker said that would be a good height to catch what I want to catch which is some stupid person on my property at night. It hasn’t happened in the 22 years we’ve lived here but this world gets wackier by the day. Also as word gets out that I am widowed, someone who doesn’t know me well, may try something stupid.

I can always get a camera for the house but I have a shooting device and two big watchdogs, so I’ll let a second camera pass for now.

Ordered an 'All in One' (AIO) last weekend. Shipped, to be delivered today 05_17_2025 (today). Got the above fireproof/waterproof file from Amazon via UPS never ordered, but got it Friday. Costs about $18 on Amazon. Don't have an account, use DD's 'Prime' for free shipping. Mistake? no charge anywhere on either debit or credit card. Couldn't figure out why? AIO is on CC pd in full. Possession is 9/10 ths so it must be free. Removed card from acct. & on watch for bogus charge anywhere. Wife is now aware of my AIO, Had to come clean!
ADDED:
Will have to watch my DD default card for a possible charge.

I have one of those..I'm not sure it would survive more than a scorching from a fire.. it may cope with water more than fire... but I wouldn't like to chance it.

Lots of groceries yesterday and the day before. Mostly fresh produce, some canned food, nuts and frozen veggies. About $100 worth, all told.

Next week I need to hit Costco.
Me too... I probably should have gone this week, cuz I'm running very low... but I have enough to last another few days....

I've bought a new smoked glass garden table this week then had my money refunded .... I also got a new tension telescopic curtain rail...

Oh the high living !:rolleyes::LOL:

Rcv'd the 'All in One' on Saturday later than usual, OMG is the monitor/CPU heavy. Discovered in the evening that there was no battery driving the bluetooth KB. Had to wait until morning for replacements, only size I didn't have, after installing battery, disabling secure boot & downloading the needed .iso to a USB for Manjaro as a legacy install, I was up & running like I meant it. Locating the correct keys was fun but found them all. Tested a movie scene for a few minutes sound & clarity were acceptable. Should get a little mileage out of it.

Holding off buying the extra KB, seems the one that came with was new so shouldn't need one for a day or two. Need more USB hubs too many laptops.
ADDED: Ordered (2) 05_19_2025.

Maybe this should be in what I could not buy thread. As the Bay closes and prices are coming down, the crowds are going up. Long lineups of folks with their arms full. No way do I need face clothes that badly. I went to another store and bought some pink Himalayan fine ground salt.

Just thinking about it, I didn’t buy any groceries on Saturday.

A Copper and Canvas Micarta, Barlow pocket knife
Made by Böker, Solingen Germany. Blade is 01 Tool Steel
... because I needed another pocket knife ;)

OH ... and a loaf of bread, bucket of ice cream, dog food and doggie dental chews this afternoon

Today Amazon bought a couple items that just exceeded the free shipping threshold. For $27, a 4-pack of inexpensive synthetic fill pillows that seemed to be ok reviewed.

Nctoberows Bed Pillows for Sleeping Standard Size Set of 4, Luxury Hotel Quality Cooling Pillows, Super Soft Down Alternative Fill

And for $9.49, an 8-pack of aluminum capacitive stylus pens. There are many such cheap capacitive styluses because designers lack physics knowledge, actually have insulated bodies that cause less capacitance to be transmitted from a person's hands.

Stylus (8Pcs), 2 in 1 Stylus Pen for Touchscreen, High Precision and Sensitivity Double Rubber Tips, Capacitive Touch Screen (Multicolor)

I went to Walmart last night. Discovered a ploy that they are using to think some prices are going down. I buy pretty much the same items each week. Two of those items, iceberg lettuce and baby carrots. The price on the lettuce last week was $1.58 (note the head of lettuce was the size of my fist, so I did not buy).

The was a new little sign there this time, showing price as $1.84 with a slash to so called lower price, $1.58, same price as last week. I will predict the lettuce will be $1.84 in the next week or two.

Similar sign at the one pound bag of baby carrots price $1.32 with the slash, to the so called lower price $1.18. I bought the product last week at $1.18. I think I will see the price on these go up as well soon.

Seems this may be their way to play mind games, let us think the price is better, that it is a roll back when it is not such thing. Then that opens the door for them to raise the price and think we won't notice.

The one thing I bought that did go up, no special sign was grapes, from $1.78lb to $2.48lb. Mine still rang up at $1.78lb. Guess they forgot to change the price in the computer system.

I will keep you updated.

the supermarkets do that exact same ploy here

From Amazon - (2) USB hubs 1 for the AIO, 1 for the older Dell 15.6. Used a couple sides of Velcro to attach older hub, trashed it trying to remove it from my desk $7.99 each. Also the headphone for the AIO only had a 2 ft long connecting cord, kept disconnecting when moving around. Ordered a 2 pack with 3 foot extensions, giving me enough rope to hang myself. $9.99 pkg. Total $25.97.

ADDED: Our HOA sponsors a spring yard sale for residents, wife has said the 2 laptops, 1X17 in HP, 8GB. 1X15.6 in Dell, 16GB & other unnecessary tech 'stuff' must go.

Yo, @StarSong! Heads up...today is the day the 🦅:poop:!

Rocking Chair Money Day is my favorite day of the month.

Y'all will never guess where I'll be going this morning.
Glad to see it, GG. My checking account is lean after paying out $1000 for two round trip cross-country flights later this summer.

Nice way to start the day!!!
