FDA Clears first blood test used to diagnose Alzheimer's Disease

Yes, it's the reason I still watch the news, however bad it may be these days. There may be something positive that I might miss.
I call it the gloom and doom show , but we still need to know what going on around us and we’ve always got the mute button.
Of course us Aussies ….are in front of you when it comes to many news stories ….it was right at the very end of the 6~ 7 pm news on Saturday …..now it’s 3.30 ..on Sunday afternoon 😀😀

Well, the test does tell someone they have the disease. But right now, we can't do anything about it, does ruin your day. It's a step forward. And, to be honest, knowing one has the disease or not, once the disease progresses, won't matter.

I know there was an earlier thread about dementia but I thought this deserved its own. This is indeed a step in the right direction!

I definitely would want to know. I'd want my family to learn as much about the diease in advance, before the dementia appeared in me and they were shell shocked and didn't know what to expect... I'd also want to be able to make the choice as to whether to end my life before the Dementia got too advance

It seems that is was all part of a global research effort, the U.S. is ahead in regulatory approval and early clinical adoption. I think the U.S. already had an earlier similar test approved, so it was easier to approve this one.

In the UK and elsewhere, similar tests are still in trial phases and haven't been cleared for clinical use yet. Hopefully it will soon be.
