Notes from Pappy's diary

VA blood draw at 12:30 today. Still getting meds squared away and see my doctor next week to follow up.
Started out sunny but weather is changing fast. Spotty showers until Sunday. The only thing I find fault with, in this apartment, is it faces north and south. We get no heat from the sun and it always seems to cool in here. I’m afraid my heat bill will be crazy each month. I haven’t received the first bill yet so I’ll have to wait and see.
I found a pizza place near us and they deliver. Got a medium with pepperoni last night to celebrate the sale of our house.
Years ago, I bought a cabinet, with heating unit, from the Amish. I use this more than the apartment heater. It was a great purchase and it must be 15 years old now.

looks beautifully warm and comforting - delusional heh??

That heater is beautiful! It doesn't get the top hot? Is it electric?
We’ve had it for years Kat. The cabinet was made by the Amish and I don’t know who made the heater. The wood part does not get hot and if I turn it up on high heat, it’ll warm our little apartment very well. It is electric and has several speeds and settings.

well good on the Hamish -seen them in a few docos and films may and that doco producer from the Uk is in Usa a lot and spent sometime with them as well as the man who app kept eventual run down zoo with some big cats! Pappy wee confession - went back to the beginning of your diary here and started reading some of it; not all - but it did start to make we teary a bit - you did it well old timer and finished up with a great family and you and Thelma were there all the way - good example for us all - take a bow old timer!!

KFC party at Pappys house yesterday. Kids came over and I ordered enough chicken for all of us. Right after we finish eating, the Prime truck shows up with my new chair. The brown one in the picture. Put it together in about 15 minutes and started enjoying it.
This chair is a swivel, rocking and recliner. Has heat and a strong massage feature. Soft and comfortable too. I, for one, am going to enjoy this chair many times. That’s it though, because we have no more room in our living room..🙂

Yesterday I had my appointment with my doctor at the VA clinic. Labs were very good but calcium a little high. Weird as I drink very little milk and take no supplements of calcium.
She, my doctor is setting me up with all the doctors I need here in NY. Next two months are going to very busy seeing doctors and getting tests. After that, things should calm down.

Am finding my way around up here thanks to family and Google maps. Today, at 2 pm, I pick up a grocery order from ShopRite. Pull up to parking spot, call them, and they bring it out to the car. This will be the 3rd time I’ve done this and I have never set foot in the store yet. Love it.

Weather getting a little nicer each day and some good old hot days will feel good again.

Have a good day my friends….Pappy

Hypercalcemia: What It Is, Causes, Symptoms & Treatment

Yesterday I had my appointment with my doctor at the VA clinic. Labs were very good but calcium a little high. Weird as I drink very little milk and take no supplements of calcium.
I had that same issue and was told the calcium had nothing to do with anything I was drinking or eating. It ended up being my parathyroid. Because one of them (you have 4) was not working it was dumping my calcium instead of using it for my bones. I had to have that one removed. I think (I don't know if I am right or not) that is the reason why I have had the problems with my legs and knees. My father had the same problem and had his removed too.

She did mention that Kat. It’s one of the test included in my workup.

@Pappy. I am going to have to do some chair shopping
also, last eve when I reclined backwards one time I heard/felt
a terrible noise, crack or whatever!!! Have not turned the chair
over to check, cuz I don't think I can do it...will get someone
to look at it tho soon....it is going backwards a little slower
today.....
get someone to look that ASAP Hawkie, in case the thing collapses...

Temp only got up to 54 today so stayed in where it was warm. Still don’t understand why my mail was never forwarded. I did all the right things on my end so someone at the PO is going to feel Pappy’s temper.
Put together one of my outdoor rocking chairs and small stand. Pics enclosed. Work on the other one tomorrow.
Not much going on so have a good day. Pappy.
