American Millennials find the Scottish Accent the Most Trustworthy in the World

I didn't understand the Scottish accent. I was totally lost. I needed an interpreter. Luckily, I had one. My companion's grandparents were Scottish, and she translated for me!

you'd understand me alright

When I first moved to England as a teenager people were downright rude.. they wouldn't ask me to repeat something or slow down.. because they were having difficulty with my accent..instead they would completely ignore the fact that I'd spoken, and say to my companion in a sneering manner '' WHAT did she SAY''?

yes the English are actually really rude to anyone who doesn't speak English... unless it's paying them not be rude.. and of course the English traditionally hate the Scots.....but the Scots despise the English even more..

What was worse even than that, I;d been here about a year, and back 50 years ago it was even more rural than it is now... so you can imagine my delight on hearing 3 scottish voices among 3 contractors in a cafe one day..the only cafe , in town at the time lol... these were 3 middle aged men , and I was 20 and said to one of the men how delighted I was to hear his accent.. he asked how long I'd been here, and I told him, a year... and he spat ..literally spat ..the word ''Traitor'' and the 3 walked off... !!

I was stunned.. and 50 years on I've never forgotten it..
