International or domestic house sitting for adventure anyone?

Just learned my brother and his wife who live in the states are house sitting in Birmingham, England. Anyone ever do someting like that in your retirement years? Pros and cons?

No I've never done it but I have thought about it....

The first thing I thought of was the legal liability of house sitting. What happens to you if the place goes up in flames? Or that irreplaceable 13th century glass vase jumps of the shelf?

you take out insurance to cover that.... and anyway, it would be madness to leave irreplaceabe items out

I think most often it envolves pet sitting. They are watching two black labs. He is wondering how to manage them on walks, lol.

When I was living in South Australia, my friend's daughter was house-sitting. She enjoyed it.
