This day in 1792 the NY Stock Exchange began to do business. Just imagine managing investments if there was no stock trading.

And just imagine if we still had to do all the trades by phone and paper. When I was disposing of my parents things there were so many little stock trade paper slips. Also a stock certificate though I think that it was long ago converted to not use the paper certificate (I.e., was without value now).
And I guess 'coupon' (interest) from bonds used to be actual paper coupons, seems so weird.

Can anyone translate that Japanese message a young girl sent me? It's the post right before mine.
It was a scammer/spammer, Mitch. Fortunately they keep getting caught and shown the door... never learn and still they keep coming.

That’s such a cool bit of history I didn’t realize it started that long ago. It’s hard to even imagine the world of finance without stock trading now. The way investing has shaped economies and personal lives is pretty incredible when you think about it.

I wonder how different life and even retirement—would look today without it. Are you someone who follows the market closely?😁

In invested all my money in Amazon stock shares in 1998. Now all my descendants can live without working. I'm 90 now.
However, this is not the highest return. If you had used all your money to buy Apple stock at that time, your return so far would be more than 900 times your investment.😁
