Cher 's troubled son Elijah Blue Allman reportedly overdosed in Southern California over the weekend; seen in 2002


Back in 2014, Allman now 48 revealed he began using drugs, like weed and ecstasy, at just 11 and detailed some close calls when it came to overdosing.

'I [was] just looking to escape all the things in my past and, that's when you turn to those kind of drugs, you know heroin and opiates,' he told ET. '[Heroin] kind of saved me … If I didn't have that at that point, I don't know what I would have done …You may jump off a bridge. If you can only just go through that time period and live through it and then get help.'

Cher, filed for a temporary sole conservatorship over Elijah’s finances in 2023, arguing he suffered from 'severe mental health and substance abuse issues.'

'Any funds distributed to Elijah will immediately be spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself, and putting Elijah’s life at risk,' the court documents read.

Cher withdrew the request in September 2024, nine months after he had filed court documents stating he was sober and had been attending AA-type meetings.

Allman's father, Gregg, suffered from substance abuse issues which doctors believe lead to his death from liver cancer in 2012.

Ol' Elijah's second pic above indicates he's a real charmer. Nope no drugs here. There's a bear near me that lives in a cave deep in the woods, and he looks a lot better than Elijah. Why does it seem star's kids have more money than brains, and their lives are train wrecks?

Perhaps we could find the answer is in the stars?
 
Read some interesting accounts overtime about the kids of stars - John Lennon and his first son Julian was an interesting case in point - ignored him for years but I think his son magnanimously forgave him? and he seems quite healthy now?

I didn’t until I listened to Cher’s audiobook. I didn’t even know she had a son.

This was part one of her autobiography. She lived an up and down life. A lot of details in the book. I needed to listen to it in longer stretches. I’d forget the characters or couldn’t relate to all the ones in the business.

yes odd really that some people didn't know that she and Greg Allman had a son almost 50 years ago. She's never hidden him, she used to be always seen out and about with him

Maybe it's because I didn't follow her social life at all. Well, lol, obviously it's because of that. Still, it was a surprise.

I love her music, some of it, but missed the media stuff.

I do remember a bit about Chaz because I watched part of a documentary and he was on, Dancing with The Stars, which I didn't watch, but saw a commercial for.

ooo, I'm wrong. I did once see, somewhere, a picture of Cher waiting in the police station for her boyfriend, but that was tons of years ago and I didn't read the story about it.

I knew she had a transgender kid, but not about this one. Too bad it can't be edited. (I'm an editor, so mistakes make me cringe.)

the fact is regardless of the small error in the title, Elijah Blue Allman is well known in his own name even if people don't know who his mother is after almost 50 years, they know who his father is... and if they don't know any of that then this thread will be of no interest to them and they won't be clicking on it...*sigh*

I've known about him since he was born because as a teen, I thought that was a really cool name. Didn't care for Cher's matchup with Gregg 'cause it seemed weird, but they chose a nice name for the baby. ☺️
