Breaking News MPs vote to legalise assisted dying in the UK

well of course there will be...just as it is in the USA...and Canada & Sweden

It's taken far too long for this to happen in the UK, it's not free and clear yet, but I can't imagine there being any further blocks to it
Hawaii has had it since 2019. The criteria is very strict to protect those deciding to use it. My parents and grand parents
have never used it.

And how are they doing? Or how were they doing? Or how did they die? How much pain and suffering did they have before their passing? That's the main issue we all are concerned when it comes to our turn.

l don't know. l don't think they took a survey. Kind of sensitive. They would have to ask the family.
Anything really untoward, l think we'd hear about it.

l did answer above that my parents never used it. My Mom died in the hospital. And my dad died in hospice.
He would have gotten up and smacked down anyone who would tried to tell him to do it. He very vociferously
didn't want to die. He even looked it up on the internet about telling the doctors how to treat him so that he
didn't have to die.

P.S. My grand parents didn't use it either. My Grand Mother was a feisty old woman who threw soda
cans at the nurses.

And I was asking about pain and suffering of your parents and grandparents. I guess you didn't know. Anyway, it's good that some people are willing to put up a fight to live longer. If they died in the hospitals, it's likely they did not have a prolong suffering, because most patients of longterm illness are usually moved to nursing home once their conditions are stablized.

@Aunt Bea
Suicide by definition is self inflicted, otherwise it's murder.
We all see what we choose to see.

I see physician assisted suicide as a bit of compassion from those who have the medical training and expertise to help people end their suffering.

I believe that it has been quietly happening for years and should become an acceptable option for end of life care.

I am 90 and do have severe arthritis pain. I simply take the drug, Tylenol Arthritis, and play the computer game Civilization VI (do NOT buy Civilization VII since it has too many bugs). If one is immersed in Civilization VI, DISTRACTION takes effect and all the pain disappears!

In that game one gets to kill millions using advanced weapons like nuclear bombs, modern armor and jet bombers.

By the way, here in Connecticut, USA, they allow one to create a Living Will, whereby one is allowed to refuse all medication including food and water. If one does go down that path, it takes 2 to 3 weeks to die legally. I signed a Living Will and I sent a copy to the Geriatric Center of my nearest hospital and also sent a copy to my Geriatrician. I believe one must be over a certain age to have this privilege. I doubt if anyone under age 80 has this benefit in my state. I would only use it if I had a terminal illness like cancer.

I'm for giving the strongest pain meds as there are for pain, despair, sleep induced & let time and nature do the rest. Financial cost of this to help to ease suffering would have to be worked out. 🤔

Sure, maybe there is anyone care if you are still living or dead.

Rather than opt for death to stop incessant pain, maybe properly medicating the pain might provide a more comfortable life. That level of pain management may not be available in this era of anti-opioid hysteria.
I think if a person wants to end his life with medical assistance, he must have a physical medical diagnosis- not solely a psychiatric one.

The German Nazis solved the extreme pain problem: GAS CHAMBERS!

However, why not try Tylenol Arthritis pills? I take 2 with breakfast and 2 with dinner. Result: ALL PAIN GONE!!

In addition, I think anyone, who wants to commit suicide over a pain problem, should be FORCED to play the computer game, Civilization VI, for at least 1 month before being allowed to exit life!

I don't think that Britain will get a positive answer for
many years, the House of Lords, have decided to go
against it.

Mike.

Stay up all night drinking Brews and playing poker.
Have a great breakfast. At this point one may not give a dang about life insurance policy.

Heck just starts the car in the garage and take a nap.

Pain from arthritis and suchlike, whilst by no means fun, is not really the same as end stage cancer metastasis
