Airliners collide on a Vietnam airport runway. Wing cuts into another jet's tail wing

An airline collision on a Vietnam airport runway. A jet wing cuts into another jet tail wing. A shockingly clean cut like the wing was a sharp knife. Stunning video.

Shocking footage: Passenger planes collide on airport taxiway—hundreds stranded

No injuries. Whew.
I’m not pretending to be the semantics police, but the tail wing is actually named the vertical stabilizer. But, you are right. Most pilots call it the tail. It’s function is to keep the plane in a straight path forward. It also prevents the plane from “yawing” and aids in landing during cross winds.

My guess as to why the Airbus took most of the damage is that Airbus uses a lighter metal or material that Boeing used for their 787, which was most likely an exotic material like a carbon fiber, which is very dense, but light. JMO

A pilot (first officer) at American Airlines was taking off from NYC had followed a 747 on takeoff and felt wake turbulence, which is not unusual, but uncomfortable to the passengers and even scary to some. To try to correct the effects of the wake turbulence, he tried alternating rudder pedals trying to keep the plane from feeling like severe turbulence. In turn by doing that, he ended up having the vertical stabilizer breaking loose from the fuselage. This was a freak accident that should never have happened. Please look at the video.

Tail Gone
This happened not long after 911 and when the plane crashed into a row of houses, they thought they were again under attack.

Someone either didn’t park their plane correctly or the other pilot didn’t allow enough room to eke by the other plane.
