A flower a day ...

Some more from my DD's garden

I think it's Berberis..lutin Rouge

Nice I figured it would be something less familiar to me.

I’ve got a few new seedlings I think are more common in the UK. Tricky finding a situation shady enough and convenient enough to water extra which doesn’t make it hard to see. Foliage is what I value highest.

If my manner of care doesn't discourage it too much maybe next year I'll see some of these:

From what I could find online it seems to be more mainstream in the UK.

I think you may find those Chatham Islands Forget-me-nots.. are endemic in New Zealand... we have them here of course but they're more prevalent in NZ (y)

The famous Corpse Flower is blooming and on display at Austin Peay University.

”The time has come for an infamous flower bloom — rare enough to draw crowds — inside a greenhouse at Austin Peay State University.

The rare, fleeting and enormous bloom of the titan arum — widely known as the “corpse flower” — is happening now. It began to open in a flashy show of burgundy, with a smell of rotting flesh, on Friday afternoon. APSU updated its visiting hours until 11 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.”

A rare 'corpse flower' blooms in Clarksville — and visitor hours are extended

I have not seen it in real life, nor do I plan to.

I have seen it in real llife but wouldn’t do it again. Corpse smell is the worst. The flowering structure is interesting and of course the actual flowers are much smaller like the fruit they leave behind.
